Consortium update

I'm of the opinion that the new consortium will keep Hargreaves for the time being and re-evaluate his position once the season gets underway. Last season was just a disaster and best forgotten... however, Hargreaves will have to prove that he has what it takes this season with a squad that he will be solely responsible for.

With all that's gone on, I'm not expecting anything from the coming season apart from 100% commitment from players, staff and supporters alike. A mid-table finish (again) will be expected but anything less then the patience of the die-hard supporters who stuck with it last season will be sorely tested - if it hasn't been already seeing that ST sales are at an all time low.

Season Ticket & Admission Price Reduction

"There has obviously been a delay over releasing season-tickets, because of the recent talks over the ownership of the club, but we are now in a position to tackle that important issue."

Now in a position eh? Does that mean the ownership saga has been resolved?

Takeover 50/50 ?

tomogull wrote: Sorry - I disagree. There is no way that TUST alone can finance the club. They have said so themselves. So unless they are part of a consortium/partnership (which I sincerely hope they will be), I can see no point in joining at the present time. However, I do remain optimistic that the club will be safe in the Conference next season and other postings have pointed to Steve Breed's encouraging comments today, but until there is something definite on the table and we the fans are told what's going on, I will not be re-joining TUST.
....then surely it is better to join now rather than waiting until 'something happens'. The more numbers the trust have in membership, surely the more they will be taken seriously if they were to be part of a consortium/partnership in my view.

Boreham Wood/Whitehawk & Chorley/Guiseley

We can thank our lucky stars it wasn't Whitehawk who made it through... their ground is an absolute hole. Visited it last season and could not believe that it has passed any ground-grading whatsoever. The place is like a bomb site. The pitch slops from left to right and up and down. The 'stand' behind the goal was unfit for purpose. and the parking.... and the food....

A personal positive... I'll be saving nigh-on £100 by not travelling down for the last game of the season.

MOTM - Aldershot

I was there (unfortunately). Think we'll struggle to get 1 vote here, let alone 5.

I'll give a vote to Lavercombe. No chance with the first and his defence just looked like rabbits in headlights for the second.

The rest... well, surprised they managed to tie their own f**cking laces...

Aldershot v Torquay Easter Monday 3PM KO

A truly awful performance all round. Nice to see Mr Hargreaves sat on the bench before the game, hands in pockets, not a care in the world. I know we had nothing to play for - but, f**k me, show some bloody passion man. What really surprised me though is the number of us who bothered to turn up for this... we knew what was going to happen from the off. But we still turn up. We still care about the club - unlike the bloody manager *sic*.

I was planning to get down to the 'Bay for the last game of the season but will not bother wasting my hard earned money watching that shower of shite.

Will be glad when this season is over.

Woking v Torquay TUE 24TH

Been a while since I've said to my son at a Torquay match that I was 'enjoying it'..... but we both knew deep down that it wouldn't last... and, true to form, it didn't. As mentioned elsewhere, the first half could've seen both teams going in at the break at 4-4... but second half it just wasn't to be... even when they pegged it back to 2-2 we just knew that they'd go on a get the winner. And they did. Make no mistake, Woking are a decent outfit and will be pushing for a play off spot... but there were glimpses of a decent Torquay side in there.

Another 3-5 points and we should be safe for this season. Rebuild in the summer. New manager? New owners? Who knows!

ps: Grecian Brucie. Close the door quietly on your way out. You certainly won't be missed. Call yourself a fan.... if all goes tits up at Sid James, you could always pop along to The Kit Kat... you'll be in like-minded company.

Torquay v Braintree TUE 17th

....woke up this morning thinking it had all been a horrible nightmare. Torquay United 1 Braintree 5 (vidi-printer mode F I V E). Nah, surely not. Just like that 1-8 defeat all those years ago to Scunthorpe, it never happened... then it dawned on me... it DID happen. We ARE this bad.

If we continue to capitulate like this we will passed on the way down to Conference South by the likes of Whitehawk, Bromley, Gosport Borough, Basingstoke et al.

We've hit an all-time low. Never before have I been so worried about the future of OUR club. We can blame Knill et al all we like for the failures of last season, but this season it comes down to one man and one man only. Chris Hargreaves.

Sorry to say, but Hargreaves is not fit for purpose and should hang his head in shame this morning and do the only decent thing and accept his P45 with grace (and no pay-off). Walk away. Write another book about caravans. Get a job in the media. But, please, do not accept another job anywhere in football as a manager because you have shown over the course of the tail end of last season and this that you are just not up to the task.

Next season. Who knows. New owners? New manager? New team? New league?

I will continue to support my beloved team until the day I die... but, like the majority, this season is one I just want to forget...

Torquay v Braintree TUE 17th

nickbrod wrote: That was Braintree against Brainless!

Unfortunately, I was there for that one. Don't think we mustered any shot of any sort in the first half - I don't think we even ventured into their penalty area. Second half was just as bad.... it was about the 98th* minute before we had an attempt on goal. One to forget.

Let's hope tonight sees us secure 3pts towards safety.

COYY!

*exaggeration - but it sure as hell felt like it!
