PSF - Torquay v Plymouth - 31/07/21

divingbboy wrote: 01 Aug 2021, 09:21 I'm not convinced that the trialist was Dan Holman. While there's a definite GJ connection, Holman is 31 and I don't think the trialist looked old enough. Also, Holman retired last season and supposedly move to Dubai with his wife.
Just done a search and trialist B certainly looks like Dan Holman!!
Lacked pace and creativity yesterday!! Thought Dan Martin provided that against Truro. As others have said pre season is difficult to judge a player. Guess we will see what each player is made of come first game of the season. Randall was outstanding yesterday!! Good luck to him. He certainly put a shift in for us last year!!

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

Modgull wrote: 15 Jun 2021, 08:19 Everyone is urged to do these twice a week (you can get them free from most pharmacies) so I am already doing them and recording the results on the NHS Covid reporting app which gives me email proof of the result. In fairness the policy only "strongly recommends" a test and that they "may" require proof of a negative test within the previous two days to allow entry. But with Covid cases taking off in Bristol they may decide to strengthen their response so it would be wise to do one.
Thanks for the advise. Will definitely do one. Don't want to be turned away!!

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

I was number 30 in queue but got through after 35 mins. Couldn't choose seats as it's lucky dip. My 2 tickets are sealed in an envelope and came direct from Bristol. Lady said wait time was due to both season ticket holders and non season ticket holders both calling!! I see the Covid policy at Ashton gate says we may be asked for proof of a lateral flow test on entry taken no more than two days before. Anyone going to do this? Anyone know if their is parking at the ground?

Play Offs

Just read through this thread. Having paid just short of £600 for a season ticket for me and my lad for five games and not claimed any refund when last season ended early I would be gob smacked if I was asked to pay more for the play off semi final!!
I was wondering if the Saturday off will be an advantage or not. Players like to play every week so perhaps the teams who win their quarter finals will have momentum coming in to the semi. Agree it gives injured players time to come back but with no match sharpness!!

Agree, I'm a fit and healthy middle aged man but try to abide by the guidelines as would hate to think I could pass it on to someone more vulnerable!!! I've talked to several people today employed in the hospitality industry and I really fear that the new year will be very painful in terms of unemployment. Would like to know what the financial position is at TUFC. We have had grants but will it make up for the loss in income. Would have expected a full house on boxing day. Interested how much income the stream is generating.

Southampton Gull wrote: 27 Dec 2020, 20:54 Playing devil's advocate Fred, do you see the same people next to you when you do the weekly food shop?
You're right that we mix with other people on a daily basis at work or while shopping. My point is that I don't understand how the seating plan has been worked out. I'm going to ask to be moved a couple of seats along as just one seat between me and a stranger for pretty much 2 hours I'm a little uncomfortable with. While shopping I can choose to stand back and wait if areas look too busy. I know it's my choice/risk to watch the football live but am going to politely ask to move a couple of seats.

Strange how the seating arrangements in Bristows Bench have been worked out. The seat to the left of me is tapped off but the next two seem to be on general sale as I've had two different neighbours for the last two matches. All the seats to the right of me are tapped off (about 10ish) Although the club have done so well I'm not sure I'm over happy with just one seat between me and different supporters every time. I'm planning to contact the club next week!! Also leaving the ground seems to be getting quicker and not much social distancing on the steps leaving the stand.

Boxing Day Fixture v Yeovil Town FC

Great performance today. High tempo throughout!! Really like Randall. Not sure when his loan expires but we could do with him for the season!! Injuries are a worry as they will be for all teams this year. Really hope we can keep playing our games as points on board will be more important with so many teams falling behind with their fixtures and will have to play perhaps 3 times a week for a long time. I feel we have good depth this season though. Can't remember a time when we had 4/5 strikers who can all come in and do a job. Hall coming back in tomorrow and players like Andrews, Kerr, Umerah all on the bench, coming on and doing a job!! Worry for some of our creative players like Whitfield, Evans and Nemane who cover so much ground and are having so much game time. On to Weymouth!!

Chesham United v Torquay United (FA Trophy 3rd Round Proper)

Bit like watching an eastern block European cup match from the 70s when the commentator reported from down a phone line!! Not going to worry too much about the performance which I was only able to see after 37 mins as so many players had no game time in their legs!! Buse, Little, Warren, Walters, Umerah, Moxey, Colverlan have not been regular starters and will have benefited from today's match. Andrews and Kerr have only come in in the last month. For me this shows what depth we have winning away with so many players coming in to the team. Let's hope for a really good performance on boxing day as I still haven't recovered from that terrible wet day last year when we got hammered!!

He's come out of lockdown incredibly fit. Chased a player the full length of the pitch the other night only to get booked, unjustly in my opinion!!! Jake Andrews has played really well the last couple of games too. As Southampton Gull says Ben Whitfield has been outstanding too. Hope all stay fit as the fixture list is brutal with games coming thick and fast!!

National League - King's Lynn Town v Torquay United - Sat 12 Dec 2020 - 3.00pm KO

portugull wrote: 11 Dec 2020, 18:04 If anyone from Kings Lynn reads this it is meant in a constructive way.

By charging more than anyone else at this level you are shooting yourself in the foot. Most Clubs charge £9.99.

At £12 with 250 sales you take £3,000. At £9.99 with 500 sales you take £4,995.

Fans do not like being charged over the odds and it does not make sense. A poor business decision in my opinion.
Totally agree. I've streamed most games and was planning to do the same tomorrow but won't pay £12 out of principle as despite it being only £2, it clearly is above the normal rate for this league. Will listen on radio and await the highlights!!
