Barnet away 20.11.21

Are we sure they didn't stay overnight!! I spoke with GJ before the Bromely match and he said they stayed over and were only half hour away. Traffic was bad (as always) on the M25 yesterday so really poor if we traveled direct and rocked up with 50 minutes to spare. Agree first half was terrible but came out fighting in the second and Little scored a fantastic free kick!! Top corner!! Thought we could go on and win from there with the Torquay fans in good voice. Shame about the pen. Couldn't see to clear from down the other end but no complaints from the players. Littles set pieces were far better yesterday and he played well along with Lewis. My worries from watching the pre season games (especially Plymouth) was a lack of creativity and pace. Here we are approaching December and nothing has changed. We are in a relegation fight. Listening to the results leaving the ground I'm already more happy when a lower team loses and not that bothered when too teams win and that tells you something about where we are!! Good luck to Connor and his family. Hope to see him back soon!!

Barnet away 20.11.21

Heading up tomorrow morning. Martin, Armstrong, Evans all available so a stronger looking squad. Hopefully a better performance than my last away day at Bromley where we were dire!! Should be a good turn out from the yellow army!! Hopeful but not confident is the best way to describe how I feel!!!

Wrexham v Torquay

As said with the opening post really happy with a point tonight! Ruined their party!! An away point on the back of last week's win, with a continually improving squad gives us hope going into the Christmas period!!

MOTM - King's Lynn

portugull wrote: 23 Oct 2021, 19:11 Sinclair Armstrong. On his debut Sinclair was everything I hoped for and more. Has electric pace which I love. Well done Sinclair.

Joe Lewis. In my opinion should be Captain. Another excellent game from the big man.

Harry Perritt. After a slow start I really liked what I saw. This lad is the real deal and I think he will have a long career.

Klaidi Lolos. The more starts he gets the better. One of those players defenders hate because he is slippery and keeps evading tackles.

Dean Moxey. Always a pleasure to watch and his long throws are very good but we need to make more use of them tactically.

Modgull I chose my 5 before I saw your choice!
Absolutely agree!!!

Wrexham v Torquay

Wrexham away was always going to be tough but I'm reading today that their new Hollywood owners have picked this fixture to attend!! First time together I believe!!! More pressure on their players or a boost? On the back of our 2-0 Kings Lynn win aided by our two new additions and the possibility of players coming back from injury Gary Johnson will have some decisions to make this week!! For me a point would be great and anything more a bonus!!

Torquay V Kings Lynn - 23/10/21 - 3pm

Result today was far more important than the performance after last week!! Agree with radio Devon today that our budget is way below some in this league!! I do however feel some teams are there for the taking and today Kings Lynn where one of them who could only field 2 subs!! Thought we played well today and the two new guys were great!! Perrit was tough and did what he needed to do as a centre half and Armstrong was strong and quick!! Guess QPR rate him as they have Austin, Dykes and Grey and they didn't want him cup tied!! GJ is our best manager in years and by the fans reaction at the end it shows most agree!!

Anyone know why Dan Martin isn't playing? Is he injured? Looked lively in pre season!! Sure there must be an explanation why he's not making the bench! What have I missed?

Torquay United v Southend United Sat 18 Sept KO 3pm

Man of the match for me was Moxey!! Fantastic game. Absolutely class!! Followed by Lewis!! Great character shown today against an average Southend side!! Really needed a win today and we got it!! Evans works so hard and deserved to get the winner!! Back to back wins are crucial to climb the league but a tough game away to unbeaten top of the table Chesterfield next week. Confidence growing in the team and supporters!!

Torquay United v Grimsby Town Sat 11 Sept KO 3pm

I was quite worried after seeing all the pre season friendlies about our new signings. We seemed to lack pace and strengh. I was won over after watching a great first half at Maidenhead and was prepared to put the second half down to nerves and perhaps a little complacency. However after yesterday's performance I am very concerned.
Firstly, only 1900 Torquay fans. Perhaps after 18 months we've lost a few fans.
Secondly, not one loan signing?? Has the budget been cut as I make it a squad of 18.
Thirdly, within the 18 probably half are not up to it. Halstead was poor yesterday but perhaps is carrying an injury. Certainly wasn't keen to come out to take set pieces and his ball handling was poor. Wagner needs to be stronger in the air when defending the back post. Wright is working hard but every game I've seen he's being held by two strapping centre halves. Holman holds the ball up well and will improve. The four subs yesterday don't look like making an impact. Disagree with others about Hall and Moxey as I think they still have a lot to offer. Lapsie did well at Maidenhead so shame he picked up an injury. Gutted for Little as he found some form in the last two. Lewis has been strong and every match will be a fight for him as most strikers at this level seem Hugh!! We lack pace badly. Let's see if we get any loans in tomorrow!!

gullintwoplaces wrote: 12 Sep 2021, 17:24 The story of the family being turned away by a laughing steward is extremely concerning. The club should investigate this story fully and sack the steward if proven. A business that mocks its customers deserves to lose them. I’ve seen stupid at Plainmoor many times over the 57 years I’ve been supporting the Gulls, but laughing at fans whilst turning them away for being one minute late is probably the craziest and most ridiculous thing I’ve heard of.
Also why sell tickets for seats in Bristows Bench and then stick a banner over them to segregate fans!! I saw a family rock up and a few lads only to find their seats are under the banner!! They then find another seat which is empty at the time only to have to move when the ticket holder rocks up for the seat they have had to sit in!!

Maidenhead United v Torquay United Sat 4 Sept KO 3pm

We played really well in the first half as the scoreline suggests. The midfield four were experienced at this level and it showed. All were outstanding. We defended well against a very direct attack with too big strikers who were always going to cause problems as proved in the second half. Wright and Holman put in a shift and held the ball up well. Pleased for Little scoring two and playing really well. Sure his Dad was stood by me so perhaps he should come every week!! We did dodge a bullet at 4-2 when the ref clearly reached for his pocket after a late tackle from Hall but changed his mind when he realised it would lead to a red. GJ rightly made the change after that. Hall was outstanding in the middle. First win so onwards and upwards!!
