John Smith an absolute powerhouse of a midfield player. took no prisoners, I cannot remember the exact game but Torquay were winning 2-1 and hanging on desperately for the win, time was up but the referee kept the game going. He went for a ball and ended up flat out on the pitch. lying on his back., not moving. The referee looked at his watch and Smithy and decided there was not time to bring to the trainer on and blew his whistle. With that, he jumped up and sprinted to the dressing room with a big grin on his face.
