Aveley v Torquay United

Horrendous to get to this Aveley spot. Going to take me 1 1/2 hours by public transport. Only live 18 miles away.

Dorking v Torquay

And that’s fair enough. Whoever did that, what a low life

I think we managers call it rested. Strong attacking bench though.

That’s a big miss in defence.
I would put Deano on the left of a back three of Palmer and Dreyer. WJD and Hayfield just in front as our stoppers, Carson on the left, Thomas on right of midfield, Morgan in the middle, Young and this new Derby fella up top in a weird 3-2-3-2 formation. There you go Paul. 3-1. You’re welcome.

Ins and Outs. Our Season to Date

Midlandgull wrote: 22 Jan 2025, 20:08 I think a winger and a forward would be great additions. Not easy to find good ones.

What about Carayol? So much experience at a higher level and just got released by Exeter. Downside is he is 36 but you'd think he could still do it.
Thought he was moving closer to London a yonk or three back.

Not a minute too soon. Poor old Cooke is running himself in to the ground.

Slough v Torquay Tues 21st Jan 7:45pm

We started off really well and after some comical Sunday pub defending by Davies, their player manager, we strolled into a one goal lead. We get the second it’s our game.
Game changed when Cooke came off. Moose and Young playing up top should have, but didn’t work. Looked like 5 at the back with a thin looking three in midfield. Both goals came from our left. Carson had no cover, Lirak didn’t know where to be it seemed and didn’t give him much cover. Deano came on and should have gone to left back with Carson in front of him to stop their tricky right sided players. We needed a Paul Wotton type on the pitch. We looked very disorganised with nobody talking. Just trying to listen to the ranting from the bench which was coming at them every 2 seconds. Very disappointing after a good start.

St Albans v Torquay United

Game of two halves. We battered them in the second and were really unlucky not to win.
The second half line up is our best imo with a case for WJD getting in for someone.
If we play like that for the rest of the season we will be really close to winning this.
Not sure why Young took the pen but he was a man possessed in the second.
Mussa was great when he came on but we need a goal from him.

Midlandgull wrote: 14 Jan 2025, 15:59 Thinking of going to this one. Reckon we will have a good following? Anyone got any experienced of going to their ground?
My favourite away day of recent times.Great old school ground, normally accompanied by a 3 point haul. Clubhouse is smallish but does the job and the natives are pretty affable. Great food options if that’s your thing. Loads of great juicers in town. Google The Garibaldi and take your pick of four or five round there in the nice back streets. Mermaid is pretty good too if you’re an old codger. Normally get the tour from a St.Albans fan who knows every pub and everyone in them it seems. Be sad to miss the trip next year.
