Anyone fancy standing for our MP as a 'Save TUFC from GI' candidate?

hector wrote: 20 Apr 2017, 21:48 Nobody is suggesting a candidate is fielded in the hope they get elected.

That would never happen.

The suggestion is simply to field a candidate to draw attention to the club's plight. There is no need for any candidate to speak about Brexit or the NHS because fielding a candidate would simply be a piece of advertising. £500 for the message to get into every household in the bay, to have it broadcast on TV. Probably a fairly cheap piece of advertising.

Is the original poster willing to stand?
Sadly, I have far too much on at the moment to stand. Interesting comments from all forum members so far and some good counter ideas.

There's only a £500 deposit needed to stand and I'm sure 50 of us would contribute a tenner to pay for it.

It would certainly help to highlight our plight locally and hopefully nationally too.

Cash injection needed

I've been a supporter for around 30 years but have never bought a season ticket holder until this year because it just wasn't worth it due to the number of games I wouldn't be able to make. This year it does make sense so all 4 of us that attend together have made the decision to buy one.

That will mean that I attend more games and spend more money with the club, I stopped going in Boots & Laces a few years ago and switched to the Gulls Nest to help the club, but they need to up their game to make even more money. It takes so long to get a drink at half time that some people give up, they need to go back to pre pouring some before half time or at least let everyone know you can pre-order half time drinks.

Torquay United v Guiseley A.F.C

With regards to the low attendance you have to remember it clashed with the England v Ireland rugby match and was just before the San Marino v England match, I'm sure there's have been a few hundred more if it wasn't for that.

Season Ticket

In my opinion the season tickets have never been good value at Torquay, I know at the start of the season that I will probably be out of the area for at least 6 games so I'm better off not bothering. I'd guess there would be a lot of other people with the same issue. If it brought a ticket down to £10 a match it would be worth it, but I'm not buying one at £295 for an early bird on the Popside.

I seem to remember one team up north offering a deal where the more season tickets they sold the cheaper each one became, it looked like a real incentive to get friends to buy one too. Does anyone have any idea how it worked out for them?

Anyone know what the highest number of season tickets that we have ever sold is?

Should TUST be targeting the TORQUAY community ...

Also, how about getting the local business community to join up? There is a real benefit to our area of having a football team and £2 a month for a business is a no-brainer especially if the TUST promotes who is supporting it.

Re: redundancies

Some interesting thoughts & ideas there. Not sure all the criticism of the club is tremendously fair though, it's all too easy to make assumptions.
