We're 1-1 and people are saying we have fallen apart and are going down. Get a grip.

Be positive. It's still even and we've had as many shots as the leaders of League 2. Just hang on for next ten minutes and sneak a late winner!

Will be delighted if our best 2 full backs are back- Tonge and Cruise. I don't understand why Chappell as our top scorer doesn't get more game but at least he will be back in. Interesting to see what strikers he plays.

yes, but Wycombe winning at Mansfield so that's ok. Anyway at this stage it's just up to us to get points and not worry about others at this stage of the season

Wow,is this the first time we've been 2-0 up this season?
And don't worry about other teams near the bottom - we should be looking at how teams near the play off places are doing, cos that's the way we're headed!

I hope Knill has learnt his lessons and sticks with 3 midfielders. If Stockley is fit, he better not be tempted to play him and Marquis up at the expense of a midfielder or we could be back to square one. Don't think he will and we should do well but it did cross my mind that the reason he went for 1 striker against Southend could have been due to Stockley's injury rather than a planned change of formation?

Should the club sack Alan Knill?
He has made some bad decisions but he can get in quality players, and after yesterdays performance he must be given longer. Maybe he can turn this around!

Torquay United v Southend United - 14/12/13
To me keeping a cleen sheet is so important when struggling and it seems to that the problem was not so much with the defence but the midfield who were constantly overrun and not giving enough protection to the back four. With 3 in midfield our quality defensive players were able to keep a clean sheet. It also leads to more support for the attack so with 2 good wingers and a good striker we will score more goals. Keep these players and formation and we will rocket up the table!

Mackenzie loaned out
After today i agree, but we could be found out if we get an injury during today's match.

Mackenzie loaned out
This seems odd to me. I thought Knill would have learnt from recent experience when he lost both centre backs and bemoaned his bad luck. Sure it was unlucky to lose both but if either Downes or Pearce are injured or sent off today, he has no cover. Cruise is by all accounts not a centre back and should anyway be at left back. Hope Mackenzie comes back at end of the loan and is given chance to play.

As said on another thread, I suspect the only way Knill gets decent loan players is by promising to play them if fit. Which is fine if the loanee is covering for an injured player but once the injured player is fit again,he can't get in the team eg Pearce. Doesn't build too much spirit in the players who are here permanently particularly for peole like Pearce who dropped down the league to get regular football! Hope McCourt will go back as both Harding adn Mozika are getting close to fitness and a Andy says we need a stable line up. Great also to have a striker who can head the ball - what's the point in having 4 wingers if no one can get on the end of crosses!
Great to get a win (and by 2 goals!) which will lift the camp.

Re: Congratulations
Yes, I saw Pat Kruse's own goal and then Phil Sandercock scored a second own goal just before half time! But we came back and secured a 2-2 draw against Cambridge who were the league leaders. Amazing game

Andy, love your posts which is why i signed up. you don't embarrass your club. They make the forum very interesting. In future maybe don't look on their forum! By the way, could only find 'go your own way' and 'Little lies' , can't see anymore Fleetwood Mac songs.

Hello from Cape Town
Hi Everyone,
Having read the site with much enjoyment for a couple of years, I thought it was time to join.
I'm Mike and watched Torquay from about 1972 to 1979 (not the best years) and have followed their fortunes ever since. Now that it is so much easier to get a feel of what's going on from a distance, I have been following them more (perhaps missing home a bit too!).
Not sure when I will get to see Torquay again - last time was probably about 12 years ago, but my brother lives in Portsmouth now so when I visit him, perhaps?
Love Andy's posts, especially when taking the **** out of various places and their inhabitants - keep it up and don't tone it down too much, as they are very funny.
Mike
