Fan behaviour to cost next season

To know that you would have to see all the official reports including the other incidents mentioned in the club statement, I can't comment as i haven't witnessed any incidents, you would need to get the facts from those that have to make a balanced decision..........apart from that it hasn't been confirmed that it will happen just that its a consideration? maybe an opportunity for people to consider their actions......

Fan behaviour to cost next season

Is that another way of saying a nice bit of overtime for the local police?
Well I suppose it depends on whether having your day off cancelled/shift changed or forced to stay on to watch Torquay is your 'thing'
So the fee given to TUFC will be the cost price of all the resources required and nothing extra on top?
Its not just Officer pay, its the planning, additional transport, backroom staff, reallocation of resources, radio channels and so on. Not even the additional resources should there be arrests, interviews custody centres, file preparation, court expenses etc etc etc.

Yes its expensive but thats because its an unknown cost, the point I was making was believe me the Police don't create incidents to increase income, adding a football match to deal with is the last thing they would want to do.........

Fan behaviour to cost next season

As a former Police Officer of 30 years and recently retired I can assure you that to suggest its a cynical attempt to make money by the Police is total rubbish. Any charges are used to provide the additional resources required that wouldn't normally be available.........

Club Ownership

PhilGull wrote:I don't get why people think no one is interested in owning Torquay United. There are lots of people out there wanting to get involved and a club with no debt, a half decent little ground and it's own training facilities will tick a lot of boxes for a lot of people.
As for the location, well Argyle, City and more impressively the Cheifs are all doing ok as Devonshire sporting clubs.
I don't think its that no ones interested and whilst the club may not have any debt on the day you take over that will very shortly change. Owning a club is about putting money in but not getting any return, great for some who can afford to write off vast sums of money but not everyone, don't quote me on accurate figures but i would guess it would cost at least half a million every year for the privilege...........

Thea steps down with immediate effect

I applaud peoples optimism for believing a new chairman will be found quickly, I don't think it is that simple to find someone to take over a club in decline, its not an investment opportunity after all, if and who ever decides to come in is faced with the prospect of having to be able to write off many thousands a year just to be the owner, the club runs on a loss. My opinion is that the only way forward is a move similar to Exeter City........

Who?

Im sure he's pretty thick skinned, after all if he's read this forum he will know what fans feel........and as someone said on another subject he's been on TV talking about other west country clubs, I'm surprised he has time at the moment with the way things are going........

Who?

Fonda wrote:It was wrong when Hargreaves was making noises about Knill's job, and it's wrong that Ling is doing it about Hargreaves.

As for who we should get, we need to forget about 'previous connections' and just give it to the best man for the job. Actually invite applications, and after interview decide who offers the best chance of success - not who has the most recognisable name, or who would be most popular. The next appointment could prove to be one of the most important this club has ever made. Because we're currently standing on the edge of a precipice. Make the wrong decision now, and we might be part-time and further down the pyramid by the time this manager is being relieved.

I think we have to look for a man with experience or knowledge of the level we're at (that is what served Bucks well - as well as shed loads of cash obviously). Maybe move away from the lower-league 'journey-men' managers we normally get linked with. Maybe think outside the box a bit. Perhaps there are some excellent young managers in the league or two below ours that none of us have heard of. It might be a name that initially fails to get pulses racing, but it might just work.
The way he was treated and the feeling of rejection, abandonment call it whatever you like was not easy for him, so I think we can forgive him a few tweets (retweeting)........!

Annual Cost of Stewarding at Plainmoor

Gullscorer wrote: What is your point, Rooster? Mr Candy's post is indeed quite clear as to the facts of the situation. Hector's post, also quite clear and reasonably argued, regarding the number of stewards is, however, nevertheless his opinion.

The alternative view that there are currently more stewards at Plainmoor than is really needed, with the reasons given, is also a perfectly valid opinion. The complaint (with which many supporters and people at the club would probably agree) that the club is bound by excessively bureaucratic and unreasonable 'nanny-state' rules and regulations is also a fair point to make.

One gets the impression you are criticising posters such as Chunkygull, Portugull, and Tomogull, rather than dispassionately discussing the issues they are addressing.
My point being, Hector gave his opinion, this was then confirmed very kindly by Mr Candy so there you have it.........the answer and reasoning behind it. Not criticising and apologies if it came across that way, its just thats it...........if the club employ to many stewards and it appears everything is fine there will always be people who say theres to many stewards, if they don't employ enough stewards and somethings goes wrong there will always be those who say there not enough stewards, damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Best advice is that they're there, they shouldn't really impact on your enjoyment of the game (unless your misbehaving!), take comfort in the fact they will deal with any issue that arises and perhaps deal with events that most wouldn't want to get involved in and hopefully everyone will be happy.

Annual Cost of Stewarding at Plainmoor

Postby hector » Today, 11:04
I suspect there are minimum requirements and ratios of stewards per expected attendance. We have a good record but if there was some incident you would need a minimum number to deal with it and organise the crowd to say, evacuate. Of the many disasters that have befallen football stadiums, I suspect inadequate stewarding/supervision played its part and whilst the attendances at Plainmoor would appear to warrant minimal supervision, it would only take a gas leak or a fire to force an evacuation and inadequate stewarding could lead to a potential disastrous situation. Go to any event, like a concert etc and stewards are everywhere and on that basis, I wouldn't say TUFC are over-staffed at all.

The situation is pretty much as Hector has described with minimum requirements based on expected attendances as set down by The Green Guide and SAG. We have agreed a small reduction this season based on anticipated lower attendances and we continue to monitor this in order to keep costs down.

How much clearer do you want it !!!!!!??????

Sad he's gone but probably for the best, unfortunately we never saw the best of him but like so many other players, have endured difficult times at TUFC , like most players they fit in to certain teams and not others.............he will go on to better things I'm sure........good luck to him
