Re: Pre-match warm up.
The good old days of common sense has long gone I'm afraid. Most of the negative press 'elf and safety' gets is from our so called compensation culture and is primarily driven by insurance companies, not the HSE or H&S legislation.ROADRUNNER wrote:i just wonder how far this elt & safety nonsense will go, what happened to good old common sense, seems we live in a mad world these days, remember when we played spurs in 1971 and all the kids sat on the touchline because it was so cramped on the popside, 20,000 crammed in like sardines, imagine it now, elf & safety would have kittens. everybody just got on with it.

Pre-match warm up.
Practically everything we do in work/ even in our everyday lives is subject to risk assessment. This should be no different. If the club deems there to be a risk to members of the public, alternative places to put the goal should be sought.bengull wrote:This season the position of the training goal for shooting drills has been moved to in front of the pop-side. Hilarity often ensues when a ball is hit into the crowd etc but surely where it is now is an accident waiting to happen. The goal is directly in line with the steps from the concourse up onto the terracing, from downstairs you would have no way of knowing the drill is going on. If you are carrying a couple of hot drinks, or keeping an eye on your young kids or what not, it could be very dangerous and just wondering where the club would stand on this especially in this era of health and safety Nazism.
I appreciate there is no easy solution to this conundrum, wherever it takes place you are susceptible to a ball in the bonce, its a risk we take, but I would say that where it is currently taking place is the worst possible place in the ground as it is the only flight of stairs below pitch level.
An obvious place would be in front of the Bench due to the height of the stand wall. Granted, this wont stop all balls from entering the crowd, but as supporters watching a game of football, we should take some personal responsibility and expect the unexpected every now and then.

H&S does have a negative press for a number of reasons, mainly because of the 'compensation culture' we have and the inexperience of some people making important H&S decisions. Done properly, sensibly and with care, H&S is an important tool for keeping everyone at work/ members of the public safe.

Fickt zuliebe, ere we go again! 1st game of the season and its started already. We're doomed, goners, fu<k3d! :slap:brucie wrote:Exilegull - I hope you are not suggesting that we are going to finish in the top 3. We are 6/1 to be relegated and that is about right I would say.

Give the lads a chance, they've been playing together for less than 2 weeks, (some of them less than that). They need time to gel and get to know each other before playing to their strengths.
Keep the faith, we'll come good.

New home shirt
I still think that the design of the shirt that won the competition is better than our new one. However, I have finally succumbed and purchased one today after the match - well, it is a Torquay shirt after all
Did anyone notice that the further away the wearer was, the more whiter the shirt looked?
Sat in the Bench, looking towards the Popside, all the new shirts looked white to me. But then again, my eyes are not exactly all that![Glasses :)](./images/smilies/glasses.gif)

Squad Photo
The Sondico and TUFC logo don't look right on the squad tops. Manse's are on the white stripes and are too close together, whilst the others appear to have them close to their armpits and too far apart!
