Williams (obviously)
LRT - can't believe more people haven't mentioned him. This was my fifth or sixth game of the season and I have to say I didn't rate him in previous games. He was absolutely fantastic in this one though, really solid in the tackle and distribution much improved.

If this idiot commentator says calls Damon Lathrope Danny LaTHORPE one more bloody time I'm going to scream...

Danny Racchi is great though, doing a better job of commentating in real time than the clown who's supposed to be doing it!

The bank holiday consists of, all day Saturday, Sunday, Monday. A mans guide to a bank holiday weekend; Saturday = football, Sunday=rest day, Monday= Family time. :) All bases covered.

My point about a percentage of our fan base being pathetic stands, already know of 1 so called TUFC lives in Newton Abbot who is watching the game on T.V, lets see what todays attendance is.

Really good to get confirmation that you received 400 individual phone calls to inform you that each and every person just couldn't be bothered to attend. Puts my mind at rest.

The complete inability of some people on here to demonstrate a nuanced response to TUFC-related matters baffles me. Some people went away, some people were put off my two poor defeats on the spin, some people might work one weekend on/one off, etc..

For what's it worth, my opinion is that supporting a football club is an expensive business. Going week in, week out costs a lot, so I don't blame anyone who gives it a miss when we're playing sh*te from time to time. So if 100-200 of those 400 decided against it despite not being away, that's their choice to make. Doesn't make them any less valid TUFC supporters.

This shows some great variety in the types of goals he gets as well:

It's from the 2013/14 season with Aldershot, at this level. He got 24 league goals that season, and 15 the following, earning him the move to L2 with Stevenage. As mentioned above with Tim Sills, there are plenty of strikers who struggle in L2, but will still be reliable goalscorers in the conference.

First time I've been excited about a Torquay signing for a long time...

Bromley FC v Torquay United

Posted this in the MOTM thread but can't be bothered to write out a proper match report and wanted people to know my thoughts, so here it is again:

My first game since altrincham on a freezing day a few months ago. The game that Marsh got sent off for having a go at Butler...

Cannot believe what a completely different prospect we are now. Absolutely unbelievable job from Nicho. And yes, I was one of the many who was massively doubtful of his appointment.

Today:

MacDonald
Allen
Butler
Young - even though he only played a half - how we've missed his calmness on the ball, sets the tone.
Verma

Honourable mention:

Gerring - clearly limited to thumping it clear every time the ball came near him. However, didn't let anything go passed him and showed how much it meant to him in the celebrations at the end. Brilliant.

Richards - again, showed that he's limited with a few wayward passes, but never stops running and scored an absolute peach of a free kick. Must've been watching Luke Young in training.

Everyone else - goes without saying. 12 points adrift just a couple of months ago. Now safe with two games to spare. Miraculous.

Agree with tommyg about that guy in the middle of the bounce chant, does my head in!

Also, a bit of back and forth with the opposition fans is great, but 15 minutes solid of focusing on one group of kids, repeatedly chanting about the STD status of 13 year old girls, etc, gets really tiresome.

The constant chanting and drumming other than that was a credit to the club, let's focus on supporting the guys on the pitch, rather than nonsense off it?

Re: Help from Gulls exiled abroad.......

Southampton - Yes you can reverse your jailbreaking simply by doing a full restore on iTunes. However, this is not always successful. I see about 5 phones a week that are buggered when trying to do exactly that. We offer a really good value swap out service for iPhones, but this is withdrawn on evidence of jailbreaking, or any other tampering.

Just to reiterate, I'm not saying don't do it, there are obvious advantages. I'm just saying be aware of the possible consequences...

Re: Help from Gulls exiled abroad.......

As someone who works for Apple I have a couple of points to make! By all means go ahead and jailbreak your iPhone, but if you do so, please just be aware that this invalidates your warrantee, and therefore if you get any problems in the future, Apple will not service it. Taking it to any non Apple certified repair centres also invalidates your warrantee. Just something to keep in mind.

As for Flash, no Apple small devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod) use Flash, and here is why...

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As stated above, there are some apps you can download that will make them play flash, but they are largely unreliable and glitchy (in my experience, although I know other people use them to get by)

Hope this is some help.

Re: Macclesfield Town v Torquay United, 14/01/12, League 2

I have to disagree with people saying Tai was poor against Argyle (my only game of the season so far, what with living up here in Glasgow). I felt that despite not being hugely talented, he actually played well, especially in the second half, in holding up the play and bringing in Danny, Billy, Eunan and Manse. Sometimes he looks off the pace, but I think that's more to do with him being isolated as the lone man up front, especially so in the first half against Argyle, when their full backs were pinning back Billy and Danny. I think some credit is due to him, and huge credit must go to Ling for keeping players like Tai, who weren't getting games, motivated and ready to perform when they come back into the picture. Contrast that with Buckle, who would never trust the backups, instead getting loanees in every time (often effectively, it has to be said, but no doubt also a reflection on his man management abilities)

Overall I think that despite being a fairly limited player, he is getting more stick that deserved, and compared to some backup forwards we had in the Buckle era, he's not half bad. When Howe comes back from suspension, I would like to see him on the bench for one game, and playing any upcoming reserve games, in order to be ready to step back in as soon as possible, but that shouldn't count against the job Tai has done over the last 3 or 4 weeks...
