And they don't just come in Boots. Sometimes it's those little Galoshes. or zip up tartan slippers with a bobble on the end.Southampton Gull wrote:The singers on the Pop would be more than happy to see you there with them Andy, as well as RO12. You'll probably recognise most of them from away games anyway.
You'll find a fair few of us on here are always happy to meet up with other members new and old in Boots prior to the game. When you're planning on going down just send me a pm and we can arrange to meet up and introduce you to other members.
Go on Dave. Buy him a Mangers when he comes over

Re: Metronomy video featuring Torquay seafront
I bet the tourist chiefs are rubbing their hands in glee. free advertising for torbay and no micky taking or bad veiws. shame the real place needs a bit more polish than the video suggests. But heaven help us if anyone suggest this be our run out music. I for one will help throw em off the pier.Trojan 67 wrote:WOW ! That superb advert of THE ENGLISH RIVIERA (TORQUAY) has made my day !
The opening aerial shot reminds me of something out of Miami Vice :

Ten years ago when Hollywood came sniffing, I was hopeful that a major motion picture was going to be made here using the ENGLISH RIVIERA as the backdrop.
What did we get ? A couple of low budget movies in the form of Blackball (2003) and Churchill : The Hollywood Years (2004).
James Cromwell (driving instructor Ray Speight in Blackball) is no small time Hollywood actor and at the time I thought it was a major coup to get him over here. His supporting roles include :
Farmer Arthur Hoggett - Babe(1995)
Dr. Zefram Cochrane - Star Trek : First Contact (1996)
Captain Dudley Smith - L.A. Confidential (1997)
Warden Hal Moores - The Green Mile (1999)
Bob Gerson - Space Cowboys (2000)
President J. Robert Fowler - The Sum of All Fears (2002)
Dr Alfred Lanning - I, Robot (2004)
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh - The Queen (2006)
Captain George Stacy - Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Then there s Neve Campbell (Princess Elizabeth) in Churchill : The Hollywood Years.
Neve, eh ? What can one say ?
In a word : SCREAM !
Maybe they should be one of the biggest groups in the world and then come back and pump tons of money into TUFC with a trust fund for the next 100 years. Oh well I suppose I can only dream

Re: not bloody goal music again!!
Ok. So we need music to come out to. Not sure I want music when we score. But if those who are crying out for Muse. Coldplay. Or any of the other type modern group just sit back and think for a minute, What music really does get the crowd going. Does anyone remember some of the great hits of the past. They may not be any of my absolute favourites but they do the job. remember "Eye of the Tiger". "We will Rock you". "We are the Champions" (you don't have to win a trophy to sing that. anyone can say their team is Champion in their eyes.
I am sure you can come up with better if you really try. it's no good thinking of the most hip tune that you adore. I may have no affect at all. and thats the point of it all. Rovers decided to change their song a couple of years ago to Pirates of the Caribean. It was top of all supporters polls. It was all the rage at the time. It was played at the begining of the match and flopped. The atmosphere from the beginning didnt materialise. The tune has now been dropped as someone eventualy realised it did nothing to gee anyone up. I expect a much more in keeping tune next time.
So if you want something to gee the crowd up thats where you need to look. you never know we may even choose something of real culture. Like the final sounds of the 1812 overture. even that would do more than muse. and if anyone has a couple of cannons at least when we play Rovers we could fire a salvo over their heads.
Or come to think of it. Crawley would be fun, we could fire em at Evans. loaded with dumplings!

What has FGR done to us then Dave. To my knowledge I haven't seen any agro between the two. Rather if PB moved he goes to Crawley. The we could all have a good ole laugh when they go bust.
But I bet they are starting to feel like Millwall. "Nobody likes us and we don't care"

Actually I think you will find that if we needed them, Rovers could allocate 2,000 tickets as the South stand can be made an all away stand. It has happened when there was a large away following before. Southampton as one comes to mind

Re: League 2 Roundup Thread
I don't neccassarily underestimate how much our fans know about players at any level. But. I do have severe reservations about how much our or any fans know about money. I doubt that they have a clue about what a player wants and I get a little fed up listening to fans clamour for this player or that. If they added up all the players demands that they asked and then mulltiplied it by the number of players that the fans want then I have no doubt that we would be in admisitration faster than Plymouth fans can say it.andygull wrote:Devera is quality at this level and can chip in with the odd goal or two. If it had been us that signed him i would be pleased. You underestimate how much knowledge our fans have about most players at our level Jeff but nevertheless a good post and interested to see peoples views on other clubs signings. Got to be honest and say generally i haven't been paying too much attention in recent weeks so i can't help anybody on that score with any further info on signings.
I wonder if any of us can really come up with a budget and who they would sign and what the cost would be to bring a new player in.
Factor in
1. signing on fee. I bet there is one for the better players.
2. Relocation expenses
3. Living accomodation if the player comes a distance from his home or last club
4. Wages.
5 Bonuses.
6. Tax and NI
7 Insurance
Thats what I can think of right now.
No good being a whizz at a computer game. they rarely give insight to reality. I bet League manager of whatever the football cyber game is called hasn't these factored in. Come on Guys. I lay a challenge down to you

I promise you you wouldn't . I know. I have had three. Not fun unless you grace some of those specialised houses of ill repute. =Z =Z =Z Not that I would know of them of course before you all jump to conclusions.
Give the guy a chance before you bury him. He may well come good yet. Then if it all ends in tears by all means offer Mr Ling a colonoscopy with a rough end of a pineapple
