Ben Wynter
Kyle Cameron
Frankie Vincent
Matt Buse - for 100% effort and was only thwarted from scoring early in the game by a brilliant save by their 'keeper. That, and another great save, probably changed the whole course of the game.
Yes, Wivel - Gilbert was there. And I reckon if we pick up any more injuries, he will be on the subs bench.

Re: FA Cup 1st Round Draw - Who do you want?
Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, Wivel. Whitby 2 - 0 up AND the Stourbridge 'keeper saved a penalty, but they ended up losing 3 - 2. Never mind. The seasiders can concentrate on the league now ........

I thought it was about Drummer Boy ........ as in barred. But perhaps not ......... !
P.S. At Wivel's age, he's too old to get sexually excited.

Going off topic ...... good to see the Seasiders off to a solid start to the season. I noticed you're drawn home to Stourbridge in the F.A. Cup. A good draw I would have thought, and a winnable one ...... ? Come on you Seasiders !!

Re: Where has the Drummer Man Gone
Admiral - have you and your silly mates thought about contacting George Whatshisname and simply saying " Sorry for getting carried away during the after match promotion celebrations?" There is no shame in apologising! I think your season long ban is harsh, but maybe the club want to use it as a deterrent for others who run on to the hallowed turf. I've no sympathy with the lad who got involved with a scuffle with stewards. He deserves his ban.
As Ginger Baker is sadly no longer available, we need you there!

Sorry - I meant Taxilady. Oh dear - another senile moment ........ :Oops:lucy6lucy wrote: ↑10 Oct 2019, 02:46 I don’t remember commenting on this topic tomogull. But I would like to add, when we stayed up against north ferriby, I went on the pitch along with numerous others, as well as the famous Paul bastard, I didn’t see it as a crime more a thing I had to do to celebrate survival. I equally went to the hungerford match, and though it was cringeworthy they invaded pitch, it was just to be expected, they didn’t cause trouble they just acted immature. Imagine banning Paul bastard. I also went Gloucester away, the behaviour that day warranted banning orders full stop. As I live in the north west, I can’t comment that those at Gloucester being pure knobs where those to be the ones banned. But it would appear the club have messed up on this occasion

I agree with Lucyx2. A season ban is excessive for the 'crime' committed. The idiot who got involved in a fight deserves his ban, but for the others a six match ban, or maybe ten match ban, would have been a sufficient punishment and deterrent. Is there any mileage in the group simply apologising to George Edwards? There is nothing wrong in saying 'sorry' ........
I stand on the Pop Side and despite the efforts of the lads at the back, the atmosphere has noticeably been rather muted this season.

Re: Torquay United v AFC Fylde 5/10/19
I fully agree, Forever. There is one motormouth on the Pop Side who I think only turns up each week to have a go at the referee, and mostly he is wrong. Very few posters mention the ref when he has a good game. I try to remember to do so. The game is played at a faster pace than it ever was and as you say, the rules of football are constantly changing (not always for the better, I might add). Being a football referee must be one of the worst jobs of all.forevertufc wrote: ↑05 Oct 2019, 22:16 With respect to both Tommo and Arcadia, is not about whether we think todays referee Mr Allison was poor or not, it's about having the realisation that, without the referee there is no football.
This doesn't just apply to Torquay United fans, every week without fail I read through fans pages you get one post after another from fans up and down the country about how crap/rubbish etc their referee was, we as fans have the right to perceive the referee's performance in whichever way we like, however much of our perception is born from the fact the majority fans are not up to speed with the ever changing and revolving laws of football, where as the referees are.
For me one change I'd like to see is, at the moment managers, coaches and players alike are forced to come out after games and give interviews, yet referees are not, maybe it would help the relationship between fans and referees if they came out gave some explanations behind some of their key decisions.
BTW Arcadia, your posts only proves my point about Mr Allison's inconsistencies to be a correct one.
Sam Allison is an ex-professional footballer and you would think he'd be wise to the pushes and tugs that go on during a game. A few examples of poor referee-ing yesterday - Ben Whitfield was clearly bundled over twice from behind in the second half. Nothing given. These were clear fouls. Yet when Whitfield pushed a Fylde player, he was, rightly, penalised. One of his most glaring errors favoured us! Fylde were in a strong attacking position, but he blew up for a free kick in their favour. He definitely should have played the advantage. It is refs like him who spoil games and I suspect it is why he has not progressed to the Football League panel as even the ever popular (??) Brett Huxtable has.

Kyle Cameron - good defensive game. Passing not as good.
Kalvin Kalala - for a great goal and cross for Buse's goal. Still frustrates with some of his wayward passing.
Matt Buse - terrific workrate all afternoon and rewarded with a very well taken goal
Rob Cundy - ditto what Nick Potkins posted
Ben Winter - got beaten a couple of times in the second half, but not much got past him. Good going forward and neat passing.

Torquay United v AFC Fylde 5/10/19
Portugull's summary says it all for me. I think Forever is being very kind to Mr Allison. In all the games I have seen him ref at Plainmoor, he has been awful. This afternoon was no different in my opinion. Failing to give fouls when they looked obvious and giving fouls that looked innocuous - and that applied to both teams.

I just hope that we don't feel the backlash of Fylde's 4 - 0 home defeat on Tuesday night as Stockport felt the backlash of our home defeat against Eastleigh .......

Re: The new season ahead
Well here we are - 14 games played already. Almost a third of the season. What about my predictions? Rubbish - what a stupid game football is! Turn the table upside down and my predictions would be pretty good with Fylde, Wrexham, Stockport and Chesterfield near the top and Hailfax and Dover near the bottom.tomogull wrote: ↑29 Jul 2019, 22:40 No silly fool has come on here to make predictions for the coming season ...... until now!! I know predictions are stupid because they are affected by injuries, managerial sackings (not TUFC of course) and lots of other things, but we all like to make them!
My feelings are that it will be a competitive league as usual, but there are no promotion near-certainties as there were last season (Leyton Orient & Salford). I think Wrexham & Fylde will be up there again, and maybe Solihull Moors. The bookies seem to think Notts Co. will walk the league, but I don't think they will - nor Yeovil. I think we could well be up there, challenging for a play off place. But I feel we are going to miss Saikou Janneh and Conor Lemonhaigh-Evans. So here are my Mystic Meg predictions -
Top Six: Wrexham, Fylde, Barnet, Stockport (with the support they get, they should do well), Solihull Moors, Chesterfield
Next Six: Eastleigh, Torquay, Harrogate, Chorley, Notts Co, Yeovil
Third Six: Woking, Aldeshot, Ebbsfleet, Bromley, Hartlepool, Degenham & Redbridge
Bottom Six: Barrow, Halifax, Sutton, Dover, Boreham Wood, Maidenhead.
There are no obvious candidates for relegation except maybe Maidenhead, so it could be quite a battle at the bottom of the table.
I still feel that there are no promotion certainties this year. Already there have been at least four team at the top of the league - Halifax, Woking, Solihull Moors and Bromley. And of my predictions for the bottm six, only Sutton are there. I thought Chorley would do much better than they are and Yeovil would be a mid table side. Still early days of course, but the league is starting to take shape. We are doing okay, but I feel we would be a few places higher if we had not picked up a number of injuries. We need more consistency as GJ has said.
With the sad demise of Bury, does anyone know what has been decided about who will replace them next season? Will it be just one relegated from Div 2, or three promoted from the National League?

Re: Saikou's coming home!!
Good post BCFC1. I would add that we were all surprised, and very delighted, that Connor Lemonheigh-Evans was coming back to Plainmoor. But both his loan and Saiko's are only until the January transfer 'window' when I suspect they will move on loan to league clubs, depending on their match fitness. Opi Edwards is an exciting player but there is a question about his fitness. He was out for a long time last season and he has missed a number of games this season. It's a shame for the lad because he is such a good player. None of them have been released by Lee Johnson so he well recognises their potential. Andrews must have been disappointed at being released, but he can play a big part in getting us back in the league. There are many players playing at National League level who you wonder why aren't playing for a league side. Armani Little and Jamie Reid being two examples.BCFC1 wrote: ↑04 Oct 2019, 12:14 The recent comments re the Bristol City loan players and ex player are interesting. I’ve watched Bristol City for over 50 years most of those as a season ticket holder. The players in question aren’t ready for the Championship. If they were near ready they would be loaned to Football League Clubs. The energy they show for Torquay is great and so is some of their skill but they do need to “man” up and experience being around a team competing week in week out for their livelihoods and where results matter. Now a season ticket holder at Torquay I’m enjoying watching players develop under Gary and introducing my grandson to the concept of supporting your local team through thick and thin. 3 points on Saturday!!
Good to see the Robins up there in the Championship 'mix'. I'm sure many of us look for City's result on a Saturday evening.
