Bring back Bobby?

nottsoathletic wrote:It would be a really really good statement of intent from the board, great signing and would hopefully boost the players. But, £3k a week is £2,900 more than we can afford.
We can't even afford to pay the players we have now.

F.A. youth cup v Westbrom home or away ?

If we beat maidenhead its west brom away to be played before the 20th December as far as I'm aware but no date is fixed as yet until the outcome is finalised so you will have to wait a bit.

The game this evening.

TUFC: Rice, Berry, MacDonald, Downes, Ives, Richards, Harding, Chaney, Parcell, Benyon, Bowman

So apart from Sullivan and Hutchings who were illegible because of loans, brisco, pearce and chappell because of injury this was the strongest Squad we could have put out.

Hardly 2nd string it's the defence everybody was screaming for after Saturday and with duane and ajala coming on at half time it's a very strong team only Luke Young missing.
Cmon Matt your better than that it's no 2nd string !

Clubs already sniffing around our young talent.

friendlygas wrote:Truth is it doesn't matter whether a player is on a long or short contract if they want to go they will go. You can't hold out for big fees when you are in the Conference because you just are not going to get them. The big problem is that once a player hears of interest from Football League Clubs whatever division then if you stop the player going you will end up with an unhappy player who doesn't play to his full potential. It wouldn't surprise me if Young already has something in his contract to say that if a league Club comes in for him then he can go for a nominal fee.
The times of clubs holding on to a player to a Contract are long gone and big fees are pretty well gone to and its clubs like ours that lose out in ALL ways these days.
you cant hold out for big fees ? thats funny Peterborough offered 500k for Madison at Gateshead but they held out and got 700k

New Striker. Krystian Pearce.

Sunnysideup wrote: From what Ive seen over the last month or so, we are clearly not creating many clear chances in dangerous areas. Thats probably why Bowman's goals have dried up.
Like most strikers at the lower levels, he needs 4 or so chances to put one away but he's no longer getting that (same as Benyon and Hawley last season). If he was good enough to do better than that regularly, he wouldnt be at our level. Cameron has gone from looking like a contender for player of the season to seemingly displaying a total lack of confidence in his ability. Briscoe looks better as a 2nd striker as he doesnt appear to have the stamina to play as a wide player. Ajala can look good at going past players but end product into danger areas is lacking. Thats why our biggest threat at present appears to be from set plays.
Cameron has been playing with a hamstring problem too.

New Striker. Krystian Pearce.

portugull wrote:Super I think you are overlooking that Aston Villa were prepared to pay £50,000 for the lad. That suggests to me that his potential is better than you think. I did add in my post the caveat that only Chris Hargreaves knows if Prynn is ready.

Going back to Pearce he has to play. He is without doubt in the top 3 of the whole squad so to continue to leave him on the bench when we are conceding so many goals makes no sense.
I have seen Prynne play more than most on here and I go to most youth games and I can assure you that the difference between the youth team and the first tam is a huge gap Daniel Sullivan scored more goals in his last year as an apprentice than Liam Prynne could dream of but its a different beast once they have to make that step up as Daniel Sullivan is finding out now. The 50k compensation that you refer to is exactly that compensation for the hours that Torquay have invested in his development. The sum is also set under the premier league regulations and is not negotiable.
also as you state its purely for potential and potential doesn't mean that your ready to be thrown into the first team, lots and lots of players are signed by clubs because they have potential but a tiny fraction of those players actually fulfil that potential. Time will tell who will be correct whether it be myself or you and neither of us have a crystal ball but I really don't see Chris Hargreaves putting Liam in anytime soon.

I agree with you about pearce he was a fantastic player last year and its unfortunate that this scenario has come about but I think the manager saw some good things earlier in the year when pearce was injured and we were keeping clean sheets so he has decided to keep the faith with the other two players but that's football and he will just have to wait to an opportunity comes up to regain his place.

The problem is attitude... and...

yellowchipmonk wrote:Hi,

I rarely post, not sure why but I enjoy reading the forum... most of the time!

It worries me that three players, Chaps, Pearce and Cameron all failed to warm-up (if that is the right terminology) at half time. Two of them remained seated, the other did a few tricks with the ball and then sat down. Aaron Downes believe it or not has a terrible attitude, as does Bowman who clearly is completely out of form at the moment.

You could argue that Bowman has some desire to be at the club being a new signing but it is very obvious both on and off the pitch that Downes and Pearce both want to leave. I remember finding a tweet many moons back almost of desperation from our very own Tom Cruise, begging for trials here, there, anywhere... According to a freedom of information request Dale Tonge is in the top three earners at the club... mmm

I wanted to also quickly mention our young goalkeeper who did makes some good stops but who also should have claimed the corner and done better with the parry leading to the second goal. I am no Martin Rice fan (mainly due to the lack of intelligence the guy has) but to say Seabright is a revalation would be premature at best.

Anyways, moving on to the midfield, I think the manager (who I so want to do well for TUFC) made a bad error in this department. Without going on and on, you decide, one less midfield signing and a full back instead or even a loan fullback? or just a squad full of midfielders, and short ones at that.

But... it all boils down to attitude, funny how when we are winning and the players are getting their win bonuses, goal bonuses and so on, everything is all merry. When you come across some tough teams made of players that barely get paid to play (they do exist in the conference) then expect a fight, in general unless the skill gap is huge, many an upset will happen. We can not just pay off expensive contracts and sign 11 Luke Youngs, but we can as a set of fans make it pretty damn obvious that it is embarrassing not when we lose but when our players let us, themselves and most importantly the club down.

Shame on some of you, I hope my children grow up with much better role models!

Let's clear up some issues here
1. The transfer list.
The players mentioned were put on the list for non footballing reasons they were placed on that list as they were purely earning too much money, they have now been removed from that list.

2. Warming up at halftime
There is no rule in place at our club or any other as far as I'm aware that says that the players have to warm up at halftime it doesn't happen in the premiership or the higher divisions in the pyramid it seems to only happen in the lower leagues mainly because the
dressing rooms are very small and you can't get everyone in their together and have space for tactic boards, massage table etc. the away dressing rooms are always smaller again than the home teams so to allow the physio and the manager a bit of space the subs sometimes choose to make some room and have a knock up on the pitch but it is purely their choice so it would be good if we got off the lads backs as there's no bad attitude.

New Striker. Krystian Pearce.

portugull wrote:I feel very sorry for Krystian who was our Player of the Season last season.

He is a good professional who was very patient for a long time when he could not get back into the team following his pre season injury.

In my opinion he is a league 1 player and although he played poorly at Alfreton remember he had played very little this season.

At his first club Birmingham City he was a striker but was then converted age 16 to a defender.

Given Bowmans poor form and at times poor attitude I suggest Chris Hargreaves gambles on playing Pearce as a striker at Kidderminster.

I also suggest he plays Levi Ives at left back and even considers putting Liam Prynn on the bench.

The old saying about if you are good enough you are old enough is very true but only Chris Hargreaves knows if he can risk these youngsters.

To play Pearce as a striker may not be a risk because he is good in the air and at 6 foot 2 he is a real physical presence and far more experienced than Duane Acheampong.
Is it stupid season I know we are in a bit of bad form but when you start trying to put square pegs into round holes as we know with the farce at alfreton and Richards.
Also Prynn for the bench ??? How does scoring 12 goals against 16 and 17 year olds and poor youth teams in the early rounds of the youth cup give him enough experience to mix it with the big boys. It's a huge step up as all of the younger lads are experiencing and the next step for Prynn will be a loan move to a southern premier team to see if he can score in that division.

Torquay should be compensated properly by the club that he signs for and there should be a sell on clause. The agent is doing the best job for the boy and himself.(Not TORQUAY)
For you to say he's not of Cruises standard you are quite right he's far better than him. The only reason that Hargreaves has not played him more is because he's on international duty most of the time. :keepie:
With international duty being every 6 weeks on average at best sometimes longer that's clearly not the case

I think with only one reserve game being played since August it's more about getting minutes under his belt.
