One shot on target in the second half sums it up. We made the opposition look good and they just sat back and it seemed that we did too.
Our last convincing performance was on Boxing Day.

Free gifts for goals. We look shaky at the back and toothless up front.

The National League Farce
Possibly add Wealdstone to the carry on vote as they've just brought in a player on loan.brucie wrote: ↑01 Feb 2021, 23:59 Fan Banter seem to have a straw poll of who is likely to vote what in the NationL League.
They have the scores on the doors as 6 - 1 in favour of playing on with Wrexham Abstaining
Sutton,Notts County,Maidenhead, Altrincham, Solihull Moors,Chesterfield (PLAY ON)
Dover Shysters Athletic (STOP)
Torquay will make that 7-1 so I guess would need another 5 votes from the rest. Possibly Eastliegh, FC Halifax, Bromley and Boreham Wood are not far off the play off positons but all are keeping quiet which maybe isn't a good thing. Going lower down theres alot of clubs who won't want to carry on so I am not sure that the majority would end up in favour of ccarrying on.

I don't see any searching for a villain in the last few posts. In addition, we don't have the luxury of waiting for Street to 'learn the game', in fairness, I'm not sure that is exactly what you meant.Dazza wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021, 13:20 It's amasing how people love trying to find a villain! Street is down here to learn the game and probably finding out what is all about by the minute. If he was more worldly and available he wouldn't be here. Umerah has good and bad moments but he wouldn't be here either if he was more consistent.
You then touch on a perennial issue for a club such as ours as we are always going to be prey to the big boys in the transfer market but that applies to the whole team.

Barnet v Torquay United Sat 30th January KO 3pm
Spot on.brucie wrote: ↑31 Jan 2021, 10:50 Can't say I have been overly impressed with Street so far. Early days I know but don't think he is strong enough to play the loan striker role at all.
Also he doesn't appear to be able to head the ball properly, and he also missed an easy chance which would have sealed the game in the second half.
Can you imagine if Umerah had missed that chance yesterday? He would have been crucified. Umerah is more of a handful for defenders I reckon and still has a part to play. I think that was why Barnet had a fair share of possession at times ie we were not holding the ball up front.

The table will look just as comfortable because no team can catch us on the basis of their games outstanding (even if they win them all - and that is a big big ask).

I agree but I think that Sutton were out on their feet towards the end which is why they didn't put any more pressure on us.SBP wrote: ↑27 Jan 2021, 12:07 I think GJ summed the performance up pretty much as i saw it as well. I agree with others regarding Armani's role. I would have prefered CLE in there.
I think some need to get off Umerahs case. He is playing a difficult role with not much service. He is obviously lacking in confidence and needs all to stick by him and support him. It reminds me of the rubbish some on here use to aim at Jamie Ried if he missed a few chances or didnt score for a few games.
I thought Joe Lewis was very good last night. I also thought Randell did well especially moving back at right back. I cant believe Sutton never really went for us when we went down to 10 men.
I dont disagree with Moxeys two yellows however the ref was poor last night.

You just can't let go can you. Moxey was far more of a liability and could have cost us the match.

I fully agree. He's young and raw, and he needs to learn not to react to niggles from defenders who don't want him their faces. When he came on he immediately became a big target up front and he put himself about well even if he wasn't wise in his contact in one incident.
It would have been different if he had managed to score one of his chances.
If anybody wants to see what he can do just look at the video of his contribution at Weymouth. A few years ago it was the same for Jamie Reid who seemed to succeed despite the wishes of some. I see that he scored again today and is now part of Mansfield's resurgence.
I just don't get it.

For a recent memory, I have to agree on that Woking match, if ever a draw felt like a win!standupsitdown wrote: ↑10 Jan 2021, 19:44 I’ve gone for only good memories.......
.........Coming back from 3.1 down to draw at Woking and virtually clinch promotion back to the National League. Ben Gerring!
And even more recently, what about the 5 - 0 away game at Hartlepool this season? No fans there but what a night!
One more from the past for me was the 1 - 0 FA cup win at Ashton Gate with that sublime cross from Mark Loram met by David Caldwell.

Twern't I opening the exit gates as I actually didn't start till 1966 but I was there and recall that it was only 2 - 1 as we went into the second half.
What about Northampton in the FA cup with two hat- tricks in a 7 - 1 win (was it in 1959). Into 1960 and we won promotion for the first time against Gillingham for the last match (I think it was 2 - 0), and I can even remember where I stood for that one.
The tear jerker though was 2 - 2 against Crewe, I shan't forget the raw release of emotion in those last couple of minutes.
Desperado mentions Southend away and I remember the nervousness when ten men Cheltenham equalised against Huddersfield with our match finishing a couple of minutes after that game (I'd got a sunburnt face while we had taken Cheltenham apart a fortnight or so earlier).
Then there was Barnet away 3 - 2 on another last day.
I could go on but, if you look back some four years or so plymouthgull had run a series on our best memories.

Well, I agree with your final sign off but not on Umerah. Have you seen his goal against Weymouth? He neatly laid the ball off to CLE then took a return pass from him facing the wrong way and completed things with a sweet shot into the corner.
He's a rough diamond and not the finished article but I can see what GJ sees in him - potential. Whether he fully realises it or not is up to him. I just hope that he doesn't read all the criticism of him in the fans' forums and, when the fans are back, they don't go for him as they did to Jamie Reid.
