Recruitment since the Play Off Final …

If only we had won at Ashton gate….still leaves a very bitter taste. We have to stop signing under 21 player’s from academy teams, they just don’t fit into National league standards. My only matter on your post is the number of great loans GJ has brought in but likewise it shouldn’t have to come down to that. We simply have to recruit 100% this season and go guns blazing and enjoy a promotion season

Southend United

bobbytanz1963 wrote: 04 May 2023, 23:36 It could be that Southend end up in Administration thereby stopping the winding up action from HMRC. The result of this would probably be a points deduction in season 2023/24.

If memory serves me correctly various clubs went through this process in the close season OR when their fate had been decided as they were relegated snd s points deduction didn’t matter

The long and the short of it is that we will be playing in NLS

EFL clubs face a points deduction can’t remember if it’s 10 or 12. But the National league are tough on clubs that go in administration and I’m sure they demote the team to next level. Personally we need a decision before June. Clutching at straws, but remember Gary saying a club facing financial problems at the end of season could save us. It happened with aldershot, they got relegated and saved from relegation. Who knows but I for one will take a reprieve

Chesterfield v Torquay United, 7.45pm, Tuesday 18th April 2023.

Like above we can’t blame last night’s result on us being practically relegated it was previous games where we simply couldn’t beat teams around us or indeed anyone. Failing to beat dorking over 2 games, Gateshead over 2 games, Yeovil over 2 games, Wealdstone over 2 games, the list can go on but that’s the reason we will be playing in NLS next season

Fingers crossed. I am a little encouraged by Alty's Home Form of late.Drew 1-1 with Yeovil, beat Halifax 2-0 lost 1-3 York and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat v Eastleigh on Saturday.

Hard one to call.
I presume you are referring to chesterfield not altys

DerekDawkinsJnr wrote: 16 Apr 2023, 06:38 The bookies still have us as odds on for the drop, but now it's 11/10 on.

They see Aldershot as by far the best candidate for us to catch at 11/4.

Maidenhead are 6/1.
What site you looking at for relegation odds?

Torquay Utd v York City - Sat 15th April 3pm

5 games ago when we lost to Dagenham i and surely most had prepared for relegation, this club simply sucks the blood out of you. We are now in a unbelievable chance to be out of the relegation places after tomorrow’s game. Get plainmoor rocking. York will park the bus and quite rightly so as a point will be enough for their own survival. This game should be on BT . This is are easier of remaining games left COYY

Aldershot v Torquay United Sat 4th March KO 3pm

somersetgull wrote: 03 Mar 2023, 18:21 Blimey no more loans. It's pointless now. Unless we can sign 10 etc etc.

How.many of this squad will be playing in the South next season??

None??? So pointless.

Asa Hall is unfit and so is Dan.

No need to update on injured players is there. The time they are out is well known and expected back dates.

Anyway won't be 6 I am confident we can limit to 4-1 at least.

3 or less will feel like a win.

N.b. De Silva was pulled away by qpr scouts last week as they were horrified by our standard of football and felt we are destroying his career as he is a prospect to make 50 grand from a 4th tier club as a squad player , like a Salford or rich club possible Wrexham next year. He deserves that.

I was next to 2 of them at some point during or after the game.

One was watching a Bromley player they have an eye on for their under 21 squad.

Anyway sorry. I hate Aldershot it's a rubbish town full of idiots.

I dread the prospect of seeing them celebrate an easy win tomorrow.

At least Aldershot will be a long distance game next season mileage wise compared to what we have ahead.

The happy clappers will blindly clap away again.
You obviously haven’t done your research on NLS, vast majority of teams are based in the south east/ London area. So aldershot would be a Derby game as such.

Blimey any neutral reading this match thread must have thought we had lost 6-0 if they didn’t know the score before reading it.

How do we approach this Cup Game??

It’s quite simple we play the 1st team. Worse case scenario it will give us a heads up for next season and how they are likely to perform if we get relegated. Seriously though it’s a lose lose situation. If we win, it’s well we should. If we lose it’s business as usual. Anyway 4-1 Torquay

I know you live up north can you explain? Surely they are very close to one another.

I guess calling Salford fc, Stockport off doesn’t compare to air safety,

Oldham Athletic v Torquay United, Sunday 11th December, Live on BT Sport

I left work in Middleton at 9pm tonight (2 miles from Oldham) and no snow, cloudy and 1 degree. Got home in Wigan and it was icy sub zero. (26 miles).
This game will be on I’m sure there is no way they would have made team travel today unless that initial inspection this morning had the pitch frozen. Oldham have had frost covers on since Wednesday. They want there £3k bt money and deserve praise for trying as numerous north west matches called off. Overnight temperatures are -1 but nothing horrific.
It better be on as this is a proper 6 pointer. And a good time to play Oldham as they have signed more experienced players, there squad is like 30+. Safe journeys everyone going

Ps only Stockport call matches off at short notice against us

Mr Tea808 wrote: 31 Oct 2022, 21:38 This season reminds me of 1984 to 1986 where we constantly changed the starting XI week in, week out, how can you make a new signing and play him the same day, it's crazy and very thrown together bordering on desperate, all if a sudden Ness and Ellis are the chosen CB pairing,4 days ago neither were at the club,we wonder why we are so disjointed and open to play against,it's no bloody wonder is it?,how can we work on shape, patterns of play, general tactical basics when the team has zero continuity?,
That’s the problem we have no plan, actually that’s incorrect we have a plan to not lose but that never goes to plan.
