Maidenhead v Torquay Utd - BH Mon 10th April 3pm

How many owners thought this would be the year to push the boat out and go for it. Maximum two i suspect.

PSF TUFC vs Plymouth Argyle 19.7.22

I listened in last night and watched the goals just now.

I've had to remind myself its a pre-season friendly and as such the result is meaningless.

However, to my mind, as i was listening, i felt there were question marks over a keeper that has a penchant for letting in more than 3. After all he did it again. But was this evidence of suspect keeping? The commentary described the first three as long shot wonder goals. I cant concur with that looking at the footage. Passed into the net from range would be more appropriate. Maybe the keeper was completely unsighted? Possibly, but do we want a habit of that? Listening in, there were good long shots when the other keeper was on, those were kept out. Then there is the fourth goal - calamitous keeping really. The fifth is arguable unlucky, but in the context of four shockers prior - was it unlucky? I hope Lovatt starts v Exeter and does well...... The problem with playing well at the end of the season means that you played well against a team on holiday and a team so cautious they didnt want to lose (as opposed to wanting to win) so those last couple of performances really need to be considered carefully to the point of suspected irrelevance. And that worry clearly applies to the centre half darling of plainmoor.

Notts County v Torquay United Sat 28 August KO 3pm

it seems inevitable we'l be beaten roundly. However we had a chunk of posseion last week and, perhpas more tellingly, the bookmakers see this as very hard to predict - if you can get 3-1 for us to win you are doing well. i'd price us at about 20-1 which reflects my betting record really - my dead certs are normally wrong. that suggests a home win is not the foregone conclusion we all think it is. In fact, (ive just paused for 20 seconds) my betting head says it wont be a home win.

Playoff Final Vs Hartlepool at Ashton Gate

I feared for Lewis at the point of throwing the ball away and concluded that the ref had been advised by that point that he had made the wrong call earlier for the second disallowed goal.

The National League Farce

i dont know enough about the constitution, but odd that resolution 1 is a special one and 4 is not. It suggests the authors of it want to end the season.

covid 19

it does make sense and that is what i am being told too not from a Torquay source i might add. At the end of the meeting there was a discussion around a mini league to decide promotion and relegation if there was an appetite from clubs near the top to do that - but that was very much a side discussion at the end of the meeting should there be some kind of small majority for option 3.
Option 2 seems very sensible!

NL,S and N have to submit a letter tomorrow stating what they want to do. 50/50 at this point. Next meeting Friday. Naturally some want to stop and otehrs want to continue. The problem is as above - the grants are now loans - hence the loss of appetite to continue without crowds

= he'd get no money.

It will be more nuamced, money will be recouped through sale of assests, of which our ground isnt one. OR through sale to someone else.

But we need to get fans back through the turnstiles, or have a streaming service with the license for the competitions throughout the season - that i think is vital and a potential money spinner into a post covid future.

The Clubs Future

NL clubs have been given 48 hours to decide amongst 4 options. One option is give barrow the title, drop to 23 teams, meaning 3 relegate and drop a christmas fixture.. no idea the other options but they are probably all more or less guessable...

Strangely, given that CO will want to protect his investment, it may actually work to our benefi, in a depressing normative sort of way...
