MOTM - Concord Rangers

Janneh (Goals aside his pace terrified them)
Kalala (hitting his stride and looks a real coup from GJ)
Reid (for THAT goal alone!)
Andrews (Class far above this level)
Davis (Mr consistent. Best left back in this league and probably the one above too)

Really hard to leave Wynter out. Had his fair share of criticism but he was really good today.

Yeah - it is like a car crash - you cant help but look.

I have to limit my expose to it and when the anger rises just close it down and not bother interacting because I have tried doing that on occasions and the saying 'you can't fix stupid' applies!

Wait.....Does this mean Harry Kane did not actually win the golden boot then?

I did not realise a successful penalty was not a goal!

Have you also gone through the other players in that top 8 and removed any penalties they may have converted?

Concorde will be a much tougher opposition for sure and had a good win last night and played well. The change in the space of a few weeks is amazing under Johnson. The whole club is buzzing now , fans even now looking forward to games at home.

If this annoys you then don't visit the Yellow Army page on Facebook. Good God you get some cretins on there. Some cannot stand that Reid is doing so well and still try to justify their criticism of him with some truly bizarre 'knuckle dragging' thinking....

It is great to see Reid now playing with confidence and his right position and as an outcome giving it to the morons who have hunted him in the best possible way.

Torquayunited v Woking Fa Cup 1st round 10/11/18

Feeling robbed by a truly diabolical refereeing decision. Niate may have been the wrong side but his tackle was clean as a whistle and there was not a question in my mind it was ever a penalty. The ref was not even in a bad position to make the decision and every single person in the bench was left shocked and outraged when he pointed at the spot

Better team lost today and Woking can count themselves lucky they nicked it by a ludicrous inept moment of decision making by the official.

Debacles? Did you witness many performances under Owers and if you did I am struggling to understand how you would describe those games if you think the last two have been debacles?

Torquayunited v Billericay Town 3/11/18

Gary Johnson hit the nail on the head when he said we were as bad in the second half as we were good in the first on what ended up as a very disappointing day.

Macdonald - 3
It all fell apart for him second half. At fault for the first, lucky when he came flying out again shortly after and got beaten when punching fresh air for the equaliser. After using the ball well first half his kicking was repeatedly ignorant to what was required for the conditions in the second. A bad day for him which costs us the win (although it has to be said he has shown well by all reports in recent games before this so hopefully just a one off).

Wynter - 7
Best game I have seen from him (apart from what I perceived to be him in the confusion which led to the first goal). Went forward well and his previous poor delivery into the box much better and how his peach of a cross was missed by Keating I will never understand!

Cameron - 5.5
Not his best display today. He and Niate were bullied by there number 14 in the second half. A usually very consistent performer short of that level in the second half.

Niate - 4.5
Took him forever to get tight to their number
14 by which time they were level. Always looking like there was a mistake in him and felt uneasy all day when he was involved. That said finished well for his goal.

Davis - 6.5
Consistent performer who played well again yesterday.

Dickson - 7.5
Excellent first half and great to see him back. Quiet in the second half but this was mostly due to the ball flying over the midfield due to the distribution from the back.

Lemonheigh-Evans - 8.5
Fantastic first half. The quality of the balls into the box for the goals were incredible. Ran the show until we decided to not utlise him or Dickson in the second half. Unfortunately we will struggle to keep him at this level when his loan is up.

Jalala - 5.5
At times looked threatening and you can see talent in him but faded as the game went on and almost missing by the time he was substituted.

Keating - 4.5
Works hard but little in the way of quality and missed two absolute sitters.A shame as you really want him to do well but I just don't see it happening for him.

Janneh - 6
Quick and direct and it is great to see the pace which was so obviously missing under Owers. Took his goal well but link up play and touch poor at times. Raw but definitely has something to offer.

Reid - 7
Different player with confidence. Touch was good yesterday and linked well with the midfield in the first half. Great to see the Popside backing him and him acknowledging the support.

Williams - N/A
Did nothing and barely touched the ball so hard to rate him.

The ref - Completely out of his depth. You would hope a new stopwatch is on his Christmas list because Niate received medical attention for 3 minutes, their player took 5 minutes to actually leave the field, there was 4 substitutions (one of which took 3 minutes for their number 6 to pass on the captains armband) and their goalkeeper was constantly taking the piss taking goalkicks yet he equated all of that to 4 minutes injury time in total! WHAT A JOKE!

Who Are The "Shrinking Violets"?

For me (reserve keeper aside) Niate was the weak link yesterday. I also think GJ does not rate Wynter. Sokolik may be too much of a walking injury to be bothered with and Essuman also worries me on occasions. Suspect Nabi and Keating may also not be up to the standard GJ sets and it is clear Williams is trusted little by him.

Bass or Macdonald who starts?

Hammdog2601 wrote: 04 Nov 2018, 10:03 When Bass is back would you put him back in the team? Me personally I’d keep with Macdonald. He’s done so well for us.
I take it you were not at the game yesterday?

Had a very poor game - at fault for both goals and second half distribution consistently poor. So infuriating watching him wallop the ball into the air with the wind taking it right out and giving the opportunity for Billericay to time waste.

Bass walks straight back into for me.

Torquayunited v Billericay Town 3/11/18

You have to ask if it took the player they had sent off 5 minutes to actually leave the pitch (most pathetic thing ever that he was allowed to do so) how this and multiple injuries and substitutions added up to 4!

The answer is the officiating at this level is simply substandard and Billericay exploited this big time.

MOTM - Billericay

Massively frustrated. A game we should have won but somehow completely messed up.

Lemonheigh-Evans - Three divisions above our level first half but unfortunately we decided to kick the ball over him all second half
Dickson - Again great first half but not utilised second half due to bypassing the midfield.
Reid - Different player with confidence. Needs longer studs when it is a soft pitch!
Wynter - OK he messed up by not taking command for their first but looked threatening going forward as some great balls into the box (which has been his weak point previously) which should have resulted in goals.
Davis - consistent performer

SBP wrote: 31 Oct 2018, 09:33 Well that was entertaining in more ways than one.
After their car park was full we had no issues with parking on the Ind est. Getting through the turnstiles was interesting. Once inside it felt like a TUFC home game, great away support apart from a very small minority.
First half was poor. Their keeper and defence were there for the taking last night and we only pressed individually and not as a team. Reid and Janner were getting particularly aggravated and you could understand why with our midfield sitting too deep enabling WSM to play out.
Not sure how their player got away with flinging Dickson to the floor like a WWE move. GJ was getting more and more incensed with Kalala who was just holding back. GJ was telling him to get involved but he was just holding back all the time.
Their first goal was a good move and clinical finish and probably deserved going in up at HT.
Eussman sustained an injury just before the interval and Wynter replaced him which didnt give me the greatest confidence for the second half.
Second half was a big improvement. Keating came on for Kalala which didnt surprise me.
Lots of incidents, Janner equalizing , Reid with a great strike hitting the bar. Opi great individual finish. A small minority of fans behind the goal throwing something at the keeper which hit him on the leg. The penalty which i really didnt see where the handball came from. Nabi being sent off and then the save and goal line clearances and then their goal. Their players going loopy celebrating in front of our fans. The fans throwing stuff at the players. McDonald trying to calm them down and clear all the stuff off the pitch. We then had a serial of Police turn up and stand behind the goal.

It was probably a fair result and GJ will be disappointed with the 1st half performance. He did warn them it was going to be difficult and we wouldnt be steam rollering this team.
How WSM get away without the required match day staff is beyond me. They knew we would bring a sizable support. What did they think that we would only bring 50-100 fans. I only saw 2-3 people who i assume where stewards without any SIA badges visible. They spent more time running out retrieving the ball. This was completely inept from WSM.
So - you are blaming WSM? How about looking closer to home at those throwing things onto the pitch and at their players. It has also been reported that someone 'spat' at their goalkeeper. Make no mistake - we might be a big club and a large fan base for the division we now find ourselves in but that is no excuse for this type of behaviour. Passion is one thing but disorderly behaviour is another and should not be accepted in any circumstances. Fantastic turnout and support by 98% who attended in our name which has been tarnished by the select 2% of complete and utter morons.

Harrop Has Left The Building

I wonder if GJ had it as one of his stipulations for taking the job?
