Harrogate on Saturday

Would go for...

Covolan
Wynter - Lewis - Cameron - Medford-Smith
Whitfield - Buse - Hall - Andrews
Lemmonheigh-Evans
Reid

I think Cundy and Janneh definitely need to make way for someone else to have a chance. Lewis deserves a few games in his natural position to really prove himself and with CLE back he has to be in the team. I would have Hall and Buse in the middle of the park to help the defence and shore things up a bit. Whitfield, Andrews and CLE should be able to provide more than enough options for Reidy.

Word of note, this is another plastic pitch!

Does anyone know the situation with Dickson? Once the first month is up can he be recalled?

Re: Torquay Talk

Nick Potkins wrote: 27 Nov 2019, 11:25 Interestingly you say, " Ben Wynter was completely bamboozled for their second goal so loses some points", I guess you are talking about with his man by the touchline, I believe it was Saikou Janneh who let his man run in behind (as pointed out by Gary in his interview). The highlights will confirm this and the 3 penalty decisions, the one they got and the two we did not.

Moving to formations, I hear what you are staying in your 4 - 4 - 2, but who would play where. I could not find 4 fit midfield players yesterday. My view being Gary tried to cover this off with the two fullback helping out.
With last nights starting eleven I would have gone with

Covolan
Wynter --- Niate --- Cameron --- Medford-Smith
Whitfield --- Buse --- Cundy --- Andrews
Janneh --- Keating

(*Maybe swap Niate and Cundy, maybe swap Whitfield and Keating)

In my view it's better to play a system the players are used to with one player in a new role than a whole new system with everyone in a new role.

But wither way - in Johnson we trust!

Chorley FC v Torquay United, 23rd November 2019

Davis, Hall, Little, Edwards*, Lemonheigh-Evans and Reid were all 1st choice eleven players at the start of the season, that's over half of the team. To be in the league position we are without them is miraculous. I have the utmost confidence that if we can have them all fit for the second half of the season then we will be challenging for the title.
Janneh coming in has strengthened us admittedly and Little or Lemonheigh-Evans are going to struggle to take his place if he hangs around in January.

*I don't expect to see Edwards back in a Torquay shirt ever again sadly.

In Johnson we trust.

Clarke Osborne

So 25 is over the hill now? If he went to Luton in January and continued scoring at the rate he currently is, or even slightly less I could quite easily see a bigger Championship team offering 7 figures in 12-18 months time. He's still on the upward curve and has at least 5 years left at the top of his game before he might start to drop off.

Clarke Osborne

All this talk like Jamie Reid would want to leave! He's already said he is aiming for us to win the league this season. He is at his hometown club, in the form of his life playing under the greatest manager he has ever worked for. For the last 18 months he has been on truly world class goalscoring form, prior to that his career was heading in only one direction - had Johnson not arrived I'm sure he would have been stuck around the Conference South for ever and a day. Seeing him asking for a five year contract without bothering to ask for a release clause would surprise me less than him asking to speak to Luton or anyone else should an offer be made. As for a £50000 valuation, come off it! Yes, it may only have been at 6th & 5th levels of the pyramid but the boy has been scoring for fun for nigh on eighteen months. Goalscorers don't grow on trees, especially not in January. Yes the level is important but not as important as the ability to put the ball in the onion bag!

https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclu ... er-window/
"Given Reid’s height and aerial prowess, the striker could prove to be an ideal candidate to partner Collins in the Luton frontline, with Town boss Graeme Jones favouring a largely direct style of play this season."

So not suited to Reid at all then.

FA Cup 1st Round Draw - Who do you want?

A bye in the first round please, then two Devon derbies in the 2nd & 3rd rounds and then a big money spinner in the fourth. Avoid Bristol City at all costs as half our squad would be ineligible!

MellowYellow wrote: 20 Oct 2019, 01:05 Agreed, It appears the Haringey Borough's manager took matters into his own hands when the team should have followed a three step protocol:

!) any player subject to abuse notify their captain, who would then speak to the referee. The referee should initially stop the game and ask for a PA warning to the crowd.

2) a second incident of racism heard by or reported to the referee should lead to the official taking the teams off the pitch, and a further tannoy warning made to the crowd that the game may be abandoned if the abuse persists.

3) A decision then can be taken by the referee, in consultation with team officials and the players, whether the game should be abandoned or continued.

What happens next is a question for the governing body - they will gather evidence from the involved parties and make a decision as to what happens in the longer term - they will almost certainly have the right to do almost anything, up to and including expelling Haringey Borough from the tournament (all though I don't think this will happen - more than likely replay the match behind closed doors.)
Uhh, I think you mean Yeovil, it was their fans with the racism.

I'm sure I remember seeing that we can only take season long loans at the moment? I guess they could put a recall clause in though?...

Notts County v Torquay United 12/10/19 3pm

This may have been perfect timing for MacDonals, Hall, Little and the others. The current first eleven put in a sub-par performance the game before the FA cup, no doubt we will see some rotational changes on Saturday and some of these lads may find it difficult getting back in the team afterwards.

Torquay United scrap plans for new stadium

The idea of a new stadium isn't because we'll have so many fans through the door that Plainmoor won't be big enough, it's the extra revenue that will come from everything in and around the stadium. The ground itself can be a 5000 capacity all standing glorified shed, it's the conference and venue facilities, the bard and restaurants, the all weather sports pitches, the gym, all the other bits that are open and generating income 365 days a year that are the important bits.
Sadly with our current ok owner it is never likely to happen :(
