Steve Breed Question & Answer Thread

I don't understand why you feel you're not welcome at Plainmoor. I could understand why you feel the present state of the team isn't worth coming to watch ! Hopefully that will change, but will you change your mind ?

5 minutes or 50yrs as a fan of TUFC does that matter???
its a forum isn't it???
about peoples opinions and freedom to post...
I mean, for gods sake, we had to put up with that fella from Cumbria didn't we???
I'd rather have andy on here than a few others that post that's for sure.
Don't worry Stefano, Andy's ok; like SNW says. He went away to his local club for a while after a few years of following TUFC, & even tried living without footie altogether. But TUFC got under his skin, just like it has with a lot of other people. That's why we still keep turning up, even though the footie's crap. Some of his warblings are 'tongue in cheek ' & I don't expect Merse minds too much ! Rule of forums...if it irks you...scroll past !!!!!Unless you're called Taxilady & you argue of course...

PL21gull wrote: 13 Jan 2018, 11:42 We'll only be in with a shout if we actually get more than the usual one or two attackers in the opposition penalty area; it's difficult to see how we expect to score when we do not attack en masse and build the pressure which enables other teams to score easily when the ball goes loose.
Our throws-in are invariably aimed up the line to two heads surrounded by four or five opponents - better teams take throws to feet and build on that possession.
We need a left-footed corner taker from the right wing to put in-swinging pressure on the keeper and defence.
We need to vary crosses into the box instead of just punting the ball at or beyond the far post in the hope that a forward might be there to score with a worldy bullet header.
And make the opposition keeper earn his money....
Or is this rocket science beyond us?
so , basically then: feet, composure, near post, & make the keeper play then ?

Yorkieandy wrote: 11 Jan 2018, 16:25 Thing with Merse is he always has to go one better. If you said you were an astronaut and had just come back from visiting the moon and had brought back some moon rock he would no doubt tell you that he'd been to Pluto years ago and not only that but had in fact visited the solar system in it's entirety using only a microlight as transportation.

Oh and he wouldn't have moon rock. He'd say he had alien remains. Better than moon rock that, and then when someone comes along decades after from NASA proclaiming they have at last found evidence of alien life, Merse would ring up claiming he'd already discovered aliens years ago after he had been scouting them on far distant planets for some regional south east team who had been looking for something a bit different 'up top'. ET was always the original 50p header of a ball.

In footballing terms, even if I made up the name of a footballer, say Hamish McHaggismuncher and claimed he was out of contract at Scottish non league club John O'Groats United, Merse would probably be on saying he's had him watched for years as he used to play for some academy down in the south east. In fact every footballer that ever lived seems to originate from the south east, conveniently only a handful of miles from his house.

Most of his posts, as I've said are very knowledgable and informative and they are good to read but : A) It's not possible to know everything

and B) On occasion there will be people who know more and know better. Not that for one moment i'm saying that is me. There are many contributors on here who impart their wisdom and views and they are as valid as anyone's and shouldn't be constantly pushed to one side by another.

Oh and i'm not a troll and have no intention of deliberately calling people out but the above is just the impression I have based on what goes on on here. In the pub he might be just a regular bloke, likes a laugh and a pint and happy days. A bit of humility on occasion though would be a great asset to him I feel and a welcome trait to add to the positive ones he already has i'm sure.
tldr xx

aha AAGull taking on Merse ! Let's hope for TUFC's sake that this lad can find the form he appears to have lost up north. Remember Bodin was crap for us, but doing all right elsewhere. Be nice if someone 'crap' from elsewhere came & was good for us for a change. Not going to hold my breath, it's the hope that kills ya .

covenants tend to last as long as they are convenient. Like most things in life, money talks. It wouldn't be politically correct of me to suggest that backhanded money talks even louder (shouts even), so I won't suggest it .Obviously, corruption wouldn't exist in a lovely place like Torbay.

Scoring goals

one indisputable improvement in the Owers/Kuhl era is the fitness levels across the team. It was so painful to watch TUFC fading EVERY game at about 60 minutes. They do at least last 90 minutes now (although I would have preferred the ref to stop it at 60 at Boring Wood,as I'd seen more than enough rubbish by then).None of our team seem to know exactly what to do if they get anywhere near the opposition goalmouth, very few attempts are on target; therefore employing fit-for-purpose strikers might make a difference if they get some service. I saw at least two very decent crosses into the box at Boring, unfortunately nobody had anticipated them.
