Torquay United announces board appointments
https://www.torquayunited.com/torquay-u ... ointments/
Torquay United AFC has pleasure in announcing the appointment of Melanie (Mel) Hayman and George Edwards to the Board of Directors with immediate effect.
Clarke Osborne, Chairman said; “I am delighted to announce these appointments as we commence the building of the Board and the process of providing the Club with strong, able and influential direction.
“Mel has been directly associated with the Club for over 20 years and has been a dedicated supporter since attending her first game (Torquay United v Newport) in 1988. Her father Ian was a former Director of the Club and now a Life President. A qualified accountant with a thorough knowledge of football business, Mel will be a great asset to the Club as we progress to an exciting and successful future.
“My trusted colleague George is already bringing his experience and ability to the Club and is reorganising the way the Club operates and functions across the entire spectrum of its activities.
I expect that more appointments will be made as we progress, and discussions continue.”

Wealdstone V Torquay United
Agreed, my £20 at 25/1 is looking promising... Win that and the 25-1 odds that some of us took up before the Woking game will be looking very good indeed.

Apparently leaving to join Argyle ground staff following the Concord Rangers game after being 'head hunted' by them. Absolutely deserves his chance at a bigger club after the immense work he has put into the Plainmoor pitch in recent years, its way above National League standard and that's all thanks to Chris and his team's endless efforts.
You will be missed Chris and thanks for your hard work over the years!
Wonder who will be filling the massive boots left behind by Chris?

Just for you:yellowsmiffy wrote: ↑23 Sep 2018, 18:29 Wasn't it Thorpe x 2 (overhead kick and a header), Danny Holland's lob and a Jo Kuffour slightly offside goal? Pretty sure Ward played for Stockport in that game? One of my favourite football games ever tbh.

Torquay United V Woking - 29/09/18
After today's emphatic 7-0 (SEVEN) victory, concentration turns to Woking next Saturday. There is an air of excitement and a buzz around the supporters which has been lacking for many years and hope this reflects in a bumper crowd for Johnson's home debut.
I would like to see the team selection stay the same as today, and ease Niate back in from the bench and hope Brett can continue his impact as a sub to prove his worth for an XI spot but the combination of Reid and Keating is working too well to change their partnership at the moment. Macdonald's distribution and general performance today might keep him in contention to stay in the XI for Woking but I think Bass will return as GK.
Torquay 2-1 Woking
Att. 2,700
(Don't think I'll ever have to put SEVEN in brackets for a Torquay win ever again).. Onwards and Upwards!![England :engflag:](./images/smilies/engflag.gif)

Have you ever been to a football match before?Guildford Gull wrote: ↑16 Sep 2018, 10:47 The only negative for me was the behaviour of the fans behind the goal towards Hungerford's teenage goalkeeper in the 2nd half. Constantly singing that he was shit and cheering when he kicked the ball out of touch reflected badly on those fans and the club. He made two excellent saves in the 2nd half, which made the comments about his ability sound even more stupid.

Osborne meeting with Kevin Foster MP and Cllr
https://www.kevinjfoster.com/news/tufc- ... plan-talks
Great to see the continued engagement and evident importance of the issue from Kevin Foster MP and David Thomas Cllr, This meeting is evidence that Osborne thought he could spin his tale of promises and pretty pictures without scrutiny.. If this doesn’t show that Osborne has no good intentions for TUFC, nothing will.
Complete incompetence from Osborne.

Anything else of note that you noticed when watching them train?portugull wrote: ↑31 Aug 2018, 21:46 Watched them in training today.
Jake Andrews set piece specialist. Opi Edwards pace to burn.
Exactly the two players we liked the most in the PSF and we have got them in on loan.
Astute signings. Changed my mind and am definitely going to Plainmoor tomorrow. COYY.

CP Gull wrote: ↑30 Aug 2018, 18:24 Interesting take on things from some on here! Whilst our forwards have been misfiring, I don’t think the rest of the team are blameless when it comes to our lack of goals!!! It is, after all, a TEAM game! The midfielders haven’t created enough and not scored a single goal in seven attempts either!
Personally I don’t think the wing backs have been delivering enough quality crosses into the box on a regular basis either.
These two signings may see a switch to a 4-4-2 I suspect, or perhaps a 4-4-1-1?
Anyway, personally I’m excited at the signing of these two, who were both quality against us on the recent PSF and between them managed to score THREE goals in 90 minutes at Plainmoor ... the same number of goals our WHOLE team has mustered in SEVEN games!
Finally it’s not just strikers that score goaks, I mean technically speaking, neither Salah, Hazard or Alli are strikers ... but how important are they to their teams, and how many goals do they score!
![good post :goodpost:](./images/smilies/goodpost.gif)
Exactly.

I'm no Owers fan, but these new signings havn't even started a game yet and are already being slated by certain members!
Other positions on the pitch can score goals other than strikers and also some forget we need players who can get the ball to a player in a good position to score too..

Both Cameron and Williams picked up a flare, Cameron handed it to the safety officer and Williams threw it over the stand.lucy6lucy wrote: ↑27 Aug 2018, 23:30 So was it Cameron that picked up the last flare and threw it out of the ground into the packed car park! That's highly responsible wasn't it. I witnessed the aftermath, Owers had a splash of some form of drink over him, as the kiosk and bar/toilets where shut. As for players squaring up to fans . The whole situation with Torquayunited is clear. We are in disarray. Owers has to go, the players where petrified to pass a ball today. Do I condone the incidents today, of course. But was it unexpected, no.

Welcome to the forum Clarke Osborne.toastkid wrote: ↑27 Aug 2018, 21:43 Earlier on today, I wouldn't have given Owers tuppence. But now, I stand by him. It's a disgrace that someone felt they could physically abuse our manager. Gary Owers wants to win games and I stand with him.
Don't let these hooligans put you off your aim which is to do well for the club Gary, and players, get behind the manager, stick together and when you start winning then these idiots will look as stupid as they no doubt are.
