Takeover of the club at an advanced stage

Is anyone else getting annoyed with TUST? I see they've sent another open letter to Dave Phillips. TUST feels like one man with an agenda rather than listening to peoples opinions on the direction of the club. Celebrate staying up, trust in Breedy and co - they've steered us this far.

Manage or Play?

Dave_Pougher wrote: Understand your point undoubtly not that worst player on the pitch on several occasions when he has received critism from not just the support but commentators also. Exactly Dave - he can't manage, train, negotiate, instigate change around the club, drive the minibus, do the press work AND play. Leave it to the team with back to back league wins and manage the side from the dugout. COYY

Manage or Play?

I don't think he should, but I think he may play.

I think most would prefer him in the dugout now he's got "his" players in..

Message from Nico...

I think we have more members than when Wrexham/Exeter Trusts took control of their clubs, someone else in the know should be able to confirm

Can we Get to Wembley?.

Glostergull wrote:russian. and chunky. both of you show that you haven't really even seen how we play as admitedly you have heard from secondhand sources. come on and see us play for 3 games and then in all honesty that he is the weakest element. Nico has brought discipline to a team that previously had none. they need shipping out and we have bargain basement players in bar one or two. tell me who you would appoint as manager for the money that we can afford. bet you can't
Gloster, I haven't been to many games this season, no. But I've listened to a lot of commentary read the match reports and watched the highlights and it often seems like we're weakest on our left side and invite attack after attack. Last couple of games he's not played and we've won, I'm not saying we've won because of this, but it is interesting. Since before Christmas people have been asking he drop himself and take up his spot on the bench as the manager, maybe it was ego or maybe it was lack of faith in outfield options to drop Dan Butler but you've got to admit in the last couple of games with Nico on the sidelines we've sounded a better team.

I'm not getting drawn into little games of who I would have appointed because you just can't win, we all wanted Hargreaves out but had he stayed we probably wouldn't've been in this pickle. Before him we had Knill who saved us from relegation and turned out to be woeful, now he's number 2 at high flying Northampton. Appointing a manager is an unenviable task, the board can never really win as I said in my previous post we can but support our manager, regardless of who he is and whether he's any good! Regarding appointing managers I saw this pop up on BBC sport this morning:

Can we Get to Wembley?.

Chunky, agree with what you're saying mate.

Getting to Wembley seems to be Nicholson's focus, one final hurrah before he hangs up his boots, surely somewhat overdue. If that's what he wants then good luck to him and the team.

His appointment was lazy, his performances (admittedly from second hand sources) have been poor both on and off the pitch, yet he still picks himself ahead of others. Despite this, we have little choice but to support him and his (because surely they are now all 'his' players) players.

When relegation comes, it'll be a sad day but it won't be the end.

Torquay United Top 100 Matches

I think it may have been the fixture in 2004/05 when away at Hull, but I forever expect that Hull match to appear on a Question of Sport because halfway through the second half, I think, someone - Leon Constantine, maybe? with a stray shot broke the corner flag, it took a good 5 minutes for a spare to be located, and when it arrived it didn't fit in the hole of it's predecessor!

I am one of them. Not long til ours are due but I can't afford to take paternity.

I quite like that Chris, I'd buy it, like the shorts too - understated and look decent with the badge.

Fairhurst Gone

Put yourselves into Waide's position, would you want people posting all of this private information about you online? Digging up the Fairhurst family past is repugnant, this thread should be locked and deleted. Leave this poor man alone and get back to posting about the one thing we're here for - Torquay United Football Club.

All the best to the Fairhurst family.
