Maidenhead v Torquay Utd - BH Mon 10th April 3pm

I genuinely cannot believe there is anybody out there who thinks Clarke has done anything to “help” us this season.

Splashing the cash….don’t make me laugh.

Torquay Utd v Aldershot Town - Tue 01/11/22 7.45pm

What a magnificent victory.
The highlights, of which there were plenty, showed a team that was, by the end, oozing confidence and clearly started showing they were up for a fight.

One of the most important parts, to me, was when we were 1-0 up, had a few chances to go 2 up but didn’t and then managing to prevent them from scoring whilst they were pressuring us. One Halstead save in particular was excellent, not in terms of the save itself, but just because of the stage of the game.

Lapslie’s goal was lovely, great to see a forward getting a hat trick, brilliant to see our defence standing firm and our new loan signings making a big difference.

Long way to go, but that first step is always an important one.

As for the comment about “uncle Clarke” having to pick up the tab for four players…that’s what you have to do when you are an owner!
It’s good to see he is clearly backing the manager (unlike plenty who wanted him gone 😉)

Anyway, that conversation is for another time, and another thread.
Today is all about revelling in a well deserved victory.

Up the bloody magnificent Torquay United!!

Notts County v Torquay United Sat 29 Oct KO 3pm

Maybe the Board aren’t sacking Gary because they back him to do the job he’s paid to do, and that they see a vastly experienced manager at this level who is managing a team decimated by injuries and suspensions, and is seeing decisions going against us.

Maybe the board are backing Gary because he’s still got the confidence of the players and the dressing room. We lack experience, yes, but that’s because most of those that have it are injured or suspended. A lot is made of the reaction of Asa last week when he was substituted…..that to me shows two things, one that he wants to play for the club/Gary and two, Gary knows what he’s doing. I mean, the sub he brought on scored with his first touch, so it wasn’t the worst sub in the world!

It’s not great being a Torquay fan right now, but if Gary wasn’t our manager and it was announced tomorrow he was going to be appointed as our manager, we’d all be delighted, because of his ability as a manager and experience at this level.

The signings made yesterday will probably be our last throw of the dice but Ellis can only be a good addition with his experience.

It’s going to be an interesting few months!

Torquay vs Wrexham 05/02/22

The big difference is that you can have all the money you want, and spend it on the best players you can convince to move, but football is a team game and you need to sign players that will work together.

We may not have the best team we’ve ever had, but they play together as a unit and that’s half the battle.

GJ is seasoned enough to know this.
Plus, when we did have money, in the days of Bucks as manager, he got plates in that he knew individually could do a job, but would work well collectively too. That’s the difference, and that’s why we won and why the likes of Wrexham will struggle until they become a cohesive unit.

A great win yesterday. Onwards and upwards!

Good to see fight and playing to the final whistle.

Yes, we have players that probably are out of their depth, but we fought last night and deserved a result. I’m glad we did and getting such a last minute goal will have pumped up the lads,

Hopefully we are turning the corner….

Personally, I’d rather not decide what I think members should and shouldn’t see when it comes to posts like this..

Obviously, slanderous posts, posts that could get the site in trouble or posts that have only been posted to insult or offend another member will be removed. Anything else will be left, by me anyway, for others to make up their own minds.

Posts such as these only last as long as the responses do. Ignore them and they very quickly disappear.

Yes, but I’m not going to buy two of them, whereas I will buy a new one, even with very few changes.

The referee cost us the win, that’s it basically.

Yes, we missed three penalties, but it should never have got that far.

Laterel flow tests

Brewers boy wrote: 15 Jun 2021, 17:55 As said before, the lateral flow test is free from the chemist, easy, if slightly unpleasant to do and gives a result in 30 mins. Why wouldn't you do it? The sooner we can eradicate this dreadful plague, the sooner we can get back to normal.
If everybody stopped testing, it would be eradicated a lot quicker 😉😂
