Torquay United V Bury 18/3/14

On the way to the match, last night, had radio Devon on. Guy Branston was on talking about the upcoming game and also about his time at Plymouth. He was talking about Sheridan and said "He's a good bloke. I was always taking the P*** out of him". He then realised that he was on the radio and had to apologise for swearing. His command of the English language was truly awful and, quite frankly, it was embarrassing listening to him. He went on to say that he would like a chance at another season in the football league and then would love to move into media work. Lets hope that media work does not include commentating on Torquay matches. Obviously, I did not hear his match commentary, but from what Brucie has said, it was not good.

Sorry Guy, you were great for the one season with TUFC, but I feel that radio work is not going to be your forte.

All I asked was if the club could put some sort of incentive for more people to make the trip! It'll help the team the more noise we make and the more support we show - Surely you can see where I'm coming from Alex especially as you'll be part of the 10/11 people on the minibus?
You are forgiven, Gazza.None taken. Feeling's are running high, at the moment, and I think your OP has just lit the blue touch paper. Maybe, with a 3 point haul tonight, things will seem better tomorrow morning. :) ;-)

But the coach is still great value, no matter what age you are. :slap:

Gazzableedsgull wrote: You've taken it way out of context, of course I appreciate what the travel club do and have travelled on it dozens of times in my youth. The issue is with the price for parents taking children that are put off watching us because of the price it would cost to take a family.
Nice idea Gazza, fuly understand where you are coming from, but the question still remains. If you (The Royal You) are not going to pay for the travel, who is? It don't come free, someone has to foot the bill. As for creating an atmosphere, have you been to Plainmoor lately? Its like Torbay Hospital Morgue, even with 1500/2000 people, so I really dont imagine that 80 extra people on a coach outing will make that much difference. Sorry.

Coach prices

The cost of travel, by coach, is what it is. I think £35, (Return to York) for any age group, is very reasonable. Just because you are 12 years old does not make the fuel any cheaper. I drove to Cheltenham, from Brixham, on Sat. I used 7.5 galls. diesel. At £1.34 per litre that works out at a cost of approx. £45.60. £10 more for half the distance. At half time I spoke to a TUFC supporter who lives in the Manchester area. He told me that he had got the train down, to Cheltenham, and it had cost him £60 return. He said that to get down to Plainmoor, by train, is costing £100!! So, in the great scheme, of things, yes I do believe you are being extremely harsh in complaining about the cost of the supporters coach travel.

I do, also, understand that Steve B runs the coaches at a lose, ie He pays, out of his own pocket, the shortfall. Not a lot of people know that.

Paigull. Apology accepted. Please accept mine. It was not my intention to pick on any one individual, you just happened to be in the firing line.

I was just a wee bit annoyed that someone (Who I know personally) put up a genuine post. She is a student and has spent a lot of money on following TUFC, home & away, this season. She wanted to go to the Newport game (She has been to all home games plus all but about 4 away). She took the time, and spent the money, the buy the "Big Five" tickets, a couple of months ago. Due to university commitments she is, now, unable to go next Sat. All she wanted was to try and recoup her money, if possible. Some people (All be it probably in jest) though it would be ammusing to suggest that she either give the ticket away or, worst still, pay someone to take it off her hands.

I admit I have probably gone a bit OTT but I was, as I said, a bit p****d off with the flippant attitude of some fellow supporters.

In answer to your question, yes, I would take a free ticket, of course I would.

But, instead of getting your Newport ticket at the box office, tonight, why dont you arrange to meet myself and Pea and buy her ticket!! You get what you want (Maybe with a small saving  ), she gets her money. Everyone is happy. Simples.

It's not a rant, as such, it's just disappointment in, some peoples attitude. Not so much in the disregard of the team, but in the flippant disrespect of a fellow supporter, who has layed out a few pounds and now, because of circumstances, is just trying to recoup it. It's not like she is trying to sell the ticket for twice the price, just what you would have to pay anyway.

So, paigull, you are only prepared to go if it's for free? That's the kind if support we need.

What's the matter with you lot? The young student purchased the ticket with the intention of going and supporting the team. She now has a presentation and is unable to go. Those of you saying you will have the ticket, but only if it's free, are a disgrace. Either you are going to support the team, or you are not. It matters not that that one person (who is prone to having hissy fits, sorry Andy) gives his ticket away. I think you are being unfair, to a young, hard working, student who was prepared to support the club by purchasing her ticket in advance, by suggesting that she give the ticket away. If you were going to the game, then you were prepared to pay for a ticket. Why do you think it's appropriate to expect a student to pay for your admission. Stop suggesting it, and if you want to go, then pay the going price.
