New manager announced - Paul Wotton
Warnock is not even getting paid for his role at the club, so I think we can trust that he is only in it for the benefit of TUFC.

Torbay Council
Torbay Council will never change. The club has been fighting with the old geezers for decades. Even as a 7-year old, I can still recall our fans chanting "sell the ground" outside the town hall during our promotion parade in 2004. The sad fact is, our local officials don't really care all that much about the club, and the majority of our owners throughout those same years have felt the same.

Colorado wrote: 22 Apr 2023, 16:36 It seems from reviewing the posts that good players don’t want to come to the remote outpost of Torquay, preferring to stay up North or in London. I don’t see a fix to that. There’s a lot of smart people on this forum. I’m all ears as to how we fix that systemic problem
I’m heartbroken by todays result. How far we have fallen
.
That's been the story of TUFC for the last 25 years, perhaps even more (bar the Rowe/Boyce years).

Really? We should be celebrating to the roof tops that we do not fall back into the NLS.

January. Halifax 1-0 on the 7th and Maidstone 1-0 on the 28th I believe. We need a big run of wins to get out of this mess. When have we ever done it the easy way?

We also need Wrexham to win all of their games and hope promotion is set for them before our game!

Great win! Back-to-back wins is huge for a relegation scrap. Just got to hope results go our way with Gateshead and Yeovil games in hand.

Torquay v Dagenham & Redbridge 25th March 2023
That Dorking away game will go down as the pivotal moment in the relegation battle. Yes, the sending off was a key turning point, but we should have been so up for it that it wouldn't have mattered. I think the time has come for us to face reality and start thinking about our future as a football club in the NLS once again. If there was ever a club that could be defined as "so close" to success it would be our beloved club.

Gary Johnson, stick or twist?
Bristol_Gull wrote: 07 Mar 2023, 21:39 Do you think GJ will stay if we are relegated? If it’s looking increasingly unlikely that we’ll avoid the drop and the manager leaves / will not be retained then why not cut the losses now and give someone else a shot?
Because, depending on how long GJ's current contract is, there is a good chance he will retire at the end of the season no matter what and if you sack him before that, the club would have to pay off his already large contract.

Torquay United v Bromley - Tues 28th Feb
The fact that we lost this game had nothing to do with Gary Johnson. If you look at the game objectively, we were clearly still in the game and looked the better side in the second half. We got ourselves back in the game and set ourselves up to try and nick the win. But a calamitous piece of defending cost us the game. To dive in like that in the penalty spot at anytime of the game is criminal, but at that moment in the game is unforgivable. Yet GJ receives the brunt of the criticism? If we got the point or even won the game we wouldn't have said a word, but because of a stupid error from one of the poor players GJ has to choose, he is the problem. No money, no budget, players not good enough, and club run by an ineffective and uninterested ownership. Story of our life.thebigp1 wrote: 28 Feb 2023, 21:53 What a joke of a side. We deserve to go down. How is Gary still in a job?

Shocking mistake at the back that started with Halstead. Ridiculous challenge that led to the penalty as well. We are our own worse enemy.

When have we ever done things the easy way? Even at 2-0 and dominating the game against Barnet it was obviously going to be 2-1 going into the last 10 minutes! It is the story of our life as a football club. Keep the faith.
