Squad 22/23

This season's squad is noticeably thin on wingers, especially now with O'Connell, and presumable Rogers too, leaving.
I think Evans is the only one who can play on the wing, so will be interesting to see if we bolster this position now with more signings/loanees or our systems of play don't require it and we bolster other areas instead.
This could also be why we have so many central midfielders signed on...

Barnet away 20.11.21

Tough watch that game! We're as useless as I can ever remember against the worst conference team I've seen this season. Didn't help the ref was incompetent but we never looked like we were able to get any points from this game.
They all look scared to ruin their hairdo if they make a tackle and scared of a useless opposition, so what hope to we have.
Oh dear this season's done for me, every game is just painfully woeful. can't put myself through any more of that codshite

Postponed matches

I also thought it was a bit premature calling it off based on a forecast that actually wasn't that severe. I live 7 miles from borehamwood and lo and behold I wake up to find the lightest flouring of snow on the tops of cars this morning.
No doubt 3pm today is going to be more playable than a frozen winter's evening a few days later so I do wonder what exactly is going on here.

Home attendances

There seem to be a lot of season ticket holders choosing not to attend, perhaps they could contact the club and offer up their seat for general sale. That way the club will get extra revenue and the attendance, and therefore vocal support for the team, can be increased

My take on it is that Johnson will be going with 3 at the back primarily. Wynter and Davis fingers crossed stay fit to last the season as wing backs, meaning no wingers in the squad but plenty of contenders for the Number 10 role... CLE, Whitfield and Nemane plus others.

So what looks like a Midfield-heavy squad I would expect to turn out to be 3 central midfielders with Nelson/Wright up front and a number 10 off them

Advantages of playing in the National League

Now that we are back in the National League, I wonder if BBC Radio Devon come crawling back wanting to broadcast live commentary.

If they do I hope the club tell them where to go.
Hopefully the TUFC radio conmentary has fared well financially enough for them to continue next season.
I for one would pay my annual subscription right now, it has got better and better all season.

Jamie Sendles-White signs!

A fifth centre back on a permanent contract seems a bit excessive, so you'd have to wonder is GJ thinking of either playing a back 3, sending one out on loan, or deploying one as a defensive midfielder/right back.
In any case a quality signing. Hoping we see a striker and a winger next

Go G.O!!

Personally thought last season's performances under Owers showed enough evidence that he won't bring success in whatever form to TUFC
Unfortunately this has continued into this season even with his "own team".

After performances so far, result aside, surely it is obvious he should go sooner rather than later. The pure insistence to persevere with a clearly out of form Jamie Reid is in my book reason enough.

I'm not a fan of dispensing of managers so soon in a season, or not giving them enough time to build their own philosophy, but I really can't see this ending positively and I would welcome any opinions on the contrary as I believe any optimistic views on the current situation are tenuous at best.

Yes me too. I guess today we will see how stubborn Owners is with his favourite formation.
From his post-match comments last weekend he looked like he was considering a change in formation and indeed he changed to 4 at the back quite early in that game anyway.
Besides, we should be attacking teams at home with a more positive set up. We shall see.

I remember one of Ling's qualities was the humility to accept his plans weren't working and change it to suit the situation and strengths of the players.

Niate out...

Despite him being one of our best players so far this season, perhaps this is a blessing in disguise to force a much-needed change in formation to something more positive.

Something like a 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 would bring some of the more creative players into the team and create more of a goal threat, something we have been so lacking.

Bawling and Banton can be given a real chance to see what they can bring up top; players that our 3-5-2 set up didn't seem to suit.

My only worry would be Wynter and Davis being exposed without the comfort of a back 3 behind to conceal their defensive frailties

Player Search - Who Will Turn Up?

Not wanting to be negative, but I hope Davis and Koszela aren't part of these 3 signings earmarked to be signing this week.
if they are then we can't help but feel things are desperate.
If Friday brings 3 experienced pros in then great, but it's feeling unlikely now
I hope to be proved wrong!

Player Search - Who Will Turn Up?

maybe a coincidence that the Yeovil keeper was released yesterday?

https://www.ytfc.net/news/2018/june/new ... town-stay/

I also see that Artur Krysiak was released from Yeovil at the end of the season.
If he's still available would be a great signing

A long way past the deadline now so surely he won't be signing.
