Re: PSF: Torquay United v Exeter City 20/07/11

Always feels good beating exeter but the performance last night (not to mention the score :) ) showed we are the top team in devon.

only a PSF i know but its hard not to get over excited by the way we played. absolutely brilliant throughout against a team finishing last year a point outside the league 1 playoffs is very encoraging.
ok there were some sloppy plays and laissez faire attitudes at times but we can really play some good stuff and create goals from anywhere

bobby looked solid in goal. Confident and commanding in his area. with a jaw that fills the whole goal, not much will get past him this season.
oastler brilliant at right back.
o'kane is the most talented CM i've seen in a torquay shirt.
mcfree looked like he could've cost a mcfee!
macklin finally realusing his potential on the wing.
rene needs to lose some weight (looks like the fridge but with some footballing ability) but is defo going to be a nuisance to league 2 defenders.
very positive displays from macklin and the youth players.

Ok too early to get carried away but i can't see us fighting relegation this season like i did a month ago.

Re: Wing-Backs...?

Looks a great option on paper, and really utilises the strengths in the squad

3 good centre backs in Robbo Ellis and Saah, whereas it's be a shame that one would be warming the bench in a 4-4-2 (or played out of position like Roboo ant RB)
Leadbitter's pace up and down the right is perfect. And Manse could quite comfortably play this role, haveing switched between Midfield and RB most his career.
Like others have said, can't see Nico getting up and down the left all game without a large dose of class A drugs. But LRT looks suited to this role.
The freedom it would create for O'Kane would really make the best out of his creativity, with 2 solid CMs holding behind him.

I think you've struck gold there Fonda! I'd love to see it tried out at least in a PSF.
Although I seem to remember an interview where Ling summarised his preferred formations and he didn't seem to favour the 3-5-2. (think it was straight 4-4-2 or an interchanging 4-5-1 to 4-3-3)

Re: Official site

I see the board have quickly moved to explain the situation with the website and are inviting ideas and suggestions for improvement:

Re: Official site

Remember how bad the OS was a couple of years ago though.
we were lucky to get a new article every week or so, and we'd find out about new signings on the bbc a few days before the OS announced them.

while it still has a long way to go, it is a major improvement from the dark old bateson days.
Good to see the board have directed some efforts towards improving communication with the fans
