If it states in the deeds that it must only be used for football or sport etc there ain’t much he could do! Other than use it for......football?

And if he didn’t make improvements then that would be his choice, however, the upkeep would have to be at a minimum standard or the owner would be forced so.

Isn't there supposed to be covenant on the ground already stating just that? Does anyone seriously think that will stop the bulldozers if there is money to be made?

Anyway the proposed land swap involving the school and the Quinta playing fields conveniently gets around any such obstacle.

Yorkieandy will probably correct me if I'm wrong but York city used to own bootham crescent but in 1999 the board separated the football club from the ground by transferring the real estate into a holding company. Both club and real estate were put up for sale. Since then York city have struggled to find a permanent home with property developers waiting to move in on bootham crescent.
If Osbourne had already owned plainmoor I would have expected him to do the same thing. That is separate club and ground into two separate companies and get rid of the football side of things.

It really is that simple that even a moron can work out that if the 'club' own the ground then the person who owns the club then owns the ground.........are we not trying to stop Osborne owning the ground?

Whatever Merse says or does regarding TUFC is irrelevant as the club are going under whether he likes it / accepts it or not. In this instance though he is right. If the freehold to Plainmoor was part of any deal to buy the club then whoever owns the club owns the land. Therefore if GI were said owners with their stinky mitts on the land already then it's easier for them to do what the hell they want.

As it stands the council have the key to the freehold but as councillors cannot be trusted then it's pretty much the same deal.

What the club needs is somebody at the council with decency and integrity and who has the power to keep the freehold from predatory businessmen.

Unfortunately that person doesn't exist.

It's too easy for people to post hiding behind a pseudonym criticising and attempting to discredit posts by a person who patently does not hide.

So if notnow would care to identify themselves and then put up an alternative argument, the statement 'Merse is not right, he hasn’t got a clue what he’s on about!' might gain some credence.

Until then, it is just another anonymous personal attack from a coward.
