Perhaps a change in the rules is needed. Force owners like Vince to pump five million quid in to the club before it's spent. Or even better, force clubs to live within their means.
Ideally we would all get to the point here we remember that this is a sport, not a business and we could try running it on more socialist lines with all monies being evenly distributed... ;-)

Read this earlier and got me thinking, would I rather us be sitting pretty with a huge chance of promotion but be on the verge of going bust once the owner got bored, or would I rather us be bumbling along but safe in the know that our finances were in order (hopefully now anyway!)?

And wasn't it FGR that had issues a couple of seasons ago with exactly the same scenario?!...

Trouble is, us football fans in general have had this discussion across forums and phone ins for some time now. At the top end of the scale with Chelsea and Manchester city, and then dropping down to the likes Crawley and Fleetwood, time and time again almost to the point of boredom we've heard, the owners will get bored, it's unsustainable, it will all end in tears, apart from Crawley who've dropped back one level, it hasn't happened at any of those clubs.

The reason, those clubs have increased their revenue streams and fan base, also Chelsea and Manchester city have built their clubs into global brands.

Talking this back to FGR, their owner Dale Vince is talking about building a £100million sports complex for FGR, so it doesn't look like he's getting bored any time soon, such a complex would turn FGR into a pretty sizeable business, promotion into the League will see them as a club gain the ability to tap, into the Sky TV money and golden FL share, so their income will rise massively, they'll also experience an automatic rise in attendances on away supporter numbers alone, making such a debt serviceable, and perhaps giving them an opportunity to pay the debt down.

Sorry to reopen old wounds, but some of those reasons above, are the reason why Bill Phillips should have had the retention of our FL status at Torquay as the no1 priority on the business plan, but it's to late, and crying over split milk never solved anything.
