Now that Josh Carmichael has arrived, I wonder if Paul Cox will play his favoured three centre halves with attacking full backs, Courtney Richards and Dan Butler? Richards did reasonably well at right back against Plymouth I thought.

So maybe a line-up that looks like - Speiss (although my preference is Lavercombe - the more experience he gets, the better he will become), Richards, Macdonald, Geoghaghon, Smith, Butler: Fenwick, Carmichael playing behind Briscoe: Fairhurst, Fisher. Subs: Lavercombe, Quigley, Marsh, Chaney and Murombedzi. He seems to have got so many options now that it will be interesting to see what team he puts out. He's been very quiet about Hurst so maybe he's match fit again. Roll on 3 pm tomorrow. Great piece in this week's Herald Express by Guy Henderson by the way.

I think we'll get off to a flier. Or maybe it'll take time for the team to gel. Perhaps a draw would be an acceptable result.

ARGGHHH!!! Roll on 3pm and come on you Yellows!!! :scarf: :scarf:

Lovely day. 3,050 and a narrow 2-1 win for the Gulls.

Hope to see Joe Quigley even if off the bench.

Is the traffic going to be bad at the Penn Inn?

I don't think I have looked forward to an opening match so much in years (decades). Cannot wait for the season to start. I think it may be down to joining the players fund and the trust and seeing the good work the latter are doing. I feel more involved with the club than I ever have been. I expect battling performances on the pitch, us Gulls fans can put up with a lot as long as there is effort. I simply love going up Plainmoor and today it will be exciting to cast my eyes over the new team which Cox has assembled. A new era for me and the club, one that I think is the right format and will see football in the Bay emerge from dark times to a 21st Century Renaissance. 2-1 to Torquay.

For all those driving down today, I strongly suggest you look at taking the route via Teignmouth, I live 5 minutes from Penn Inn, traffic is already very heavy.

Vivaldi should have written the 5 seasons
Autumn
Winter
Spring
Summer
The new season

More hopeful for this season than I have been in a long while

Think we will do ok with Cox and Ranshaw ( sound like cider apples to me) - expect non nonsense graft and some draws turned into wins

3-1 today
2468 crowd

Top 10 finish come May
