So it's ' Gulls.v.Spitfires' Seems an unfair advantage, Eastleigh formed in 1946 as Swaythling Athletic spent most of their early years in the Hampshire Leagues, Eastleigh arrived in the Isthmian League Premier Division 2004 thanks to the formation of the conference North/South saw them promoted, and promoted again the following season to the newly formed conference South. Eastleigh spent nine seasons , twice narrowly missing out on promotion to the premier losing in the play-offs (2008/2012) last season were promoted as champions of the conference south.

Eastleigh have some former Gulls in their line up, Chris Todd and Craig Stanley, and some ex-foes, most notably James Constable, and Jack Midson so nearly signed by Torquay in summer, who has the most annoying habit of scoring against Torquay.

Eastleigh whilst second in the current form table, have gained the majority of their points from home match's, last Saturdays away win at Aldershot was their first since the opening day, but, never the less formidable opponents.

01 Flitney Booked
17 Reid
02 Spence
03 Green
16 Evans
10 Reason Booked
08 Stanley
09 Constable (Todd - 89' )
11 McAllister (Midson - 73' )
13 Fleetwood (Collins - 89' )
14 Strevens

From a Torquay point of view our inconsistent form continues, we've seen some of the best free flowing attacking football for a long time this season, but despite an early run of clean sheets defensive woes continue to let the team down, maybe due to injuries and suspension not allowing Chris Hargreaves to play a settled back line hasn't helped, however Tuesday saw us line up at the back with Berry, Downes, Pearce, Ives a back line popular with the fans, and hopefully will become a settled back line over the coming weeks, Tuesday saw the team lose at Macclesfield and line up this way, which I can not see changing for this match.

01 Rice
29 Berry Booked
05 Pearce
04 Downes
25 Ives
11 Cameron (Ofori-Acheampong - 76' )
16 Richards
08 Young Booked
10 Ajala
09 Bowman
07 Briscoe (Benyon - 64' )

Id like a change of formation to a 4-3-3

Seabright

Berry
Downes
Pearce
Ives/Cruise

Richards
Young
McQuilkin

Ajala
Bowman
Briscoe

We seem to get over run in the midfield a bit too easy so would like to see us increase numbers there

I would like to see changes in the way we play.3-5-2 & 5-3-2
Only if McDonald is fit.

Seabright
Berry
McDonald
Pearce
Downes
Ives
Richards
Harding
Young
Bowman
Briscoe or Ajala
Harding is the problem position but if he sits in and passes the ball
to Young or Bowman he cannot afford to run with the ball in the centre.
This is just a dream as it just won't happen. :keepie:

Torturous Tuesday at Dover hopefully can be avoided. Ok, sorry to take this back to football now, I think there's one obvious thing CH needs to do, he may already have, is to decide on his no 1 keeper is going to be and stick to it, as partnerships and understanding is formed across the back line the same happens with the keeper, and this can't happen if we're switching from Rice to Seabright all the while.

Not sure Seabright is the answer, saw him in pre-season wasn't that impressed, but it's unfair to judge the lad unless he's had a proper run of league games , personally wouldn't want to change to any formation likely to attract more pressure on our fragile back line, would consider Harding, not that Richards has done any thing wrong in my view, but Harding would add some steel, and experience.

4-3-3 is a great shout.
The wingers aren't performing and getting crosses into the box. Certainly Cameron anyway and we relinquish possession so easily it's almost funny so an extra man in there is a good idea. That man certainly isn't Harding though. He can't pass or tackle or do anything a midfielder can do, so hopefully mcquilkin can play.
He'll play the same team though, let's face it.
