Hypothetical lottery win..

Post by bengull »

Good afternoon team,

Was discussing this with my old man earlier to idly pass the time of day at work and thought It might make an interesting discussion. Supposing you were to win the lottery (or come into a substantial amount of money if you consider the lottery to be evil) and through your love towards our fine club decided to donate a large sum to Torquay United Football Club, how would you want your wedge to be spent?

The rules of my game are that you are donating 500k and you CAN NOT spend it on "improving" or "changing" the playing or coaching staff. I am looking for ways that you would improve or help the football club and leave a lasting and positive legacy at TQ1 for generations to come.

I will reveal my completely hypothetical business plan in good time but first want to see if you have a better suggestion.

I'd form a press gang that would drive around South Devon in a fleet of coaches until they'd got approx 4000 people and then force them to pay to enter plainmoor for every home game!
only way we'd ever fill the ground unless man u were to play us every week!
still keeping the faith

i'd invest the money in cheerleaders! however i would put them in Steward training and replace the ones we have with beautiful women ;-) i'd probably pitch invade a few times to be rugby tackled though

seriously though, i'd replace the outside of the family stand because it looks a bit tacky, on a Saturday morning, sell tickets in Torquay Town centre (as a trial run to see if it is successful) with maybe the youth team selling them, obviously under supervision and sell fosters in boots and laces .. that'll do me.

I wouldn't be as brutal as bixie, but I would want the money to be spent on advertising. You hardly see anything such as advertising around Devon or town. I would get a few advertising boards up, a few people handing out leaflets and selling match day tickets around towns and citys around Devon. Some free buses going to games, like the old days. Maybe an advert on tv. if it was a big win reduce the entrance fee for under 18s and having a group offer so the more people that are with you, the bigger the discount.

I would finance the building of a statue of Robin Stubbs and, if there were still some cash left, then a (slightly) smaller one of Tommy Northcott.

I win the Euromillions my mission is to buy TUFC. Ban the public from going, sit in my personal box in Bristows Bench Julius Caeser style where I decide after 90mins whether the efforts were acceptable or whether its a thumbs down and release the lions.
