Could be a pivotal week ahead

Post by lucy6lucy »

Could be a very interesting week ahead for Torquay and its fans.

Fixtures are released
Eunan, Bobby could both be sold, although the latter depends on when he gets back from his backpack trip
Ellis saga has to be sorted by Tuesday

And based on the above who will join us?

Without doubt an important week.

We are in the stage now where players are back from holiday and moves start to happen. I felt last season we were hampered a bit by the situation we were in - the first time Ling saw the players kicking a ball was the first day of pre-season, and he had to form an opinion on that on where we needed strengthening. Whilst all the while some of our rivals (who hadn't had such a tumultuous off-season) had been able to already sign players to suit their needs. I felt the hastily built nature of our side contributed to some of the disjointed early season performances.

Now, Lingy knows the squad and knows where we need to reinforce. Jarvis aside we haven't brought anyone in, wheras some of our rivals again already have. Hopefully Ling has a few things up his sleeve - its always good to have a reasonably settled side from the start of pre-season.

Of course, he might be biding his time until he knows exactly what the Eunan/Bobby/Ellis situation is, as that will have a big say on who we need to go after. By the end of this week we will know if Ling is supplementing what he already has, or is carrying out another rebuild job.

well thats the fixtures out and bobby gone on day one of our biggest week since the last four days of last season!
tomorrow is apparently d day for Ellis, if he doesnt respond do we assume he's on the transfer list automatically? if he's out of contract he still can't just walk away for free I hope?
still keeping the faith

He's been offered a deal so we will get money for him, either agreed or through a tribunal.
