Through thick and thin

Post by Northumbergull »

Through thick and thin

On the day the club enters our lives,
Our heart beats with others.
Chests rise and fall, like the waves in the Bay.
As children, we delight in our communion.

Not for the sake of comfort,
But for the glory of too few a day
Do we stand together, united.
Good days will come.

When e'er the sun sinks, across the grassy expanse,
And once they have fought,
'til their last bead of sweat,
Beside them we shoulder their burden.

For the sea and the sand,
For the seagull's strong cry
Are our voices to be heard,
From Devon to the farthest reaches.

And now, at the last,
As the sun warms our face
Are we entered once more
In the fabulous race.

One team, one respect, for a game full of thrills
And spills as we shout out our sigh.
But will we be heard, as we pass on a word
For a judgement sent down from on high.

Cheers

Bruce

Hi Bruce
That's good. I love the sentiment and emotion.. did you write this yourself or is it online somewhere else. a poem or song?
Can't see the pop side singing it. More than 2 syllables and their lost. plus it's got lots of words lol.
Something that could be put on the side of the front page of the Express if we win. Huh fat hope!

Thanks, Gloster!

Made it up myself! :~D

Don't be hard on the Pop, it ain't supposed to be a song, just a mere poem.

Been trying flex my literary muscles of late. Tried to capture both the club on our insides as well as the imagery associated with the club.

Some may say cheesy. I'd hope for heartfelt.

You thought about sending it to the club?
If they like it could be in the programme for the away tie

Ooooh, Bruce, you have such a way with words. Another moving piece. Puts my 'There was a young man from Caerphilly' right into the shade...

Not quite a hornet's nest has been stirred, but I'm glad we have some literary types on here! :)

My writings are about as close as I'm likely to get to the club for many a long year as my 10 year financial recovery plan doesn't allow for getting to matches.

So, for those that like what I wrote, I thank you. For those with less of an appreciation, that's fine too!

On days, like today, when all our efforts have counted for nought, I fall back on these words as solace as I am mindful that, in the end, it's just a game.

Cheers m'dearios! =D

Stefano

I can make a mean shepherd's pie and am great at omelettes, but cakes, nah!

I may come across as a bit fluffy 'round the edges, but give me an emergency situation at work, I'm a nurse, and Mr Professional soon jumps out!

Here's another little ditty, just for you...

There once was a man called Stefano,
Whose support was sung to a piano.
When his song was all done,
And the race was all run,
The Gulls thanked that big ol' soprano!

Cheers
