Torquay United AFC is saddened to learn of the passing of popular former Gulls right-back Mal Lucas. Wrexham-born Mal began his senior playing career in 1958 with Leyton Orient, where he would go on on to clock up over a century of appearances – a feat he would replicate at his next club, Norwich City. After signing for Torquay in 1970, Mal would spend four seasons at Plainmoor, making 135 appearances and scoring 3 goals in all competitions. Image After his playing career – which included winning four full international caps for Wales – ended, Lucas went on to return to Norfolk to manage non-League side Gorleston between 1976-1980. The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Club go out to all of Mal’s family and friends at this very sad and difficult time. Thanks for the memories, Mal.The post Mal Lucas RIP first appeared on Torquay United.
