[OS] Grateful For Our Great Gatestaff

Post by TorquayFans.com »

Torquay United salutes those who make our matchday special days The matchday experience at TUFC would be far poorer if it wasn’t for the sterling efforts of our army of matchday volunteers, and ahead of our match against Taunton Town, the Club would like to pay tribute to our wonderful team of gate staff. Many of those that greet the Yellow Army upon arrival have been working at Plainmoor for many years, and with all of them being staunch Gulls fans themselves, they are ideally placed to welcome supporters through the turnstiles on matchdays. Image One of those such people is Gary Barron, who has been on the team here at Torquay United for 22 years now. “It’s great to see all the regulars,” said Gary. “You get to know them by name, it’s nice to interact with them, to hear their thoughts, what they think about what’s going on at the club, and that’s very enjoyable.” From gate staff to stadium announcers, programme and 50/50 sellers, Torquay United is, like many non-League clubs, blessed to have a number of loyal volunteers who assist the Club on all home matchdays. Torquay United AFC is privileged to be able to call upon a whole host of volunteers, who all play a vital role in the smooth running of the Club.. Anybody who shares our passion for pushing our Club onto greater heights, and would like to join our team of volunteers either throughout the week or also on matchdays, are invited to contact us via [email protected], detailing which areas of the Club is of particular interest to them.   John Fleet Image It was with deep sadness that that club recently learned of the passing of a true Plainmoor stalwart and former member of the TUFC gate staff team, John Fleet. John, who was a familiar face at Plainmoor’s away end, was a charismatic and friendly member of the Torquay United family for many years, and his loss will be felt keenly by not only those who worked with him on matchdays, but also the many visitors to Torquay United over the years. The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the Club go out to all of John’s family and friends at this very sad time. The post Grateful For Our Great Gatestaff first appeared on Torquay United.
