[OS] Now’s The Time To Have YOUR Say!

Post by TorquayFans.com »

With TUAFC fans being given the opportunity to have their say with the launch of an independent Supporters Steering Group, now is the chance for YOU to get involved! During the past few months, TUAFC has held discussions and listened to feedback it has received from a number Torquay United supporters, including representatives of the Torquay United Supporters Trust (TUST), with a view to improving communication channels between the Club and its supporters. The first phase of this saw the launch of our Online Fans Forum, with the first forum giving the Yellow Army the opportunity to pose questions to the Club’s Board of Directors. The next phase is aimed at ensuring that all members of our fanbase are represented, with the Club facilitating an independent Supporters’ Steering Group, (SSG), which other clubs may also call a Fan Advisory Board. This independent group will comprise of a group of United supporters from each cross-section of the Club’s fanbase, with the primary objective being to giving a voice to every member of the Yellow Army. Although acting as one unified body, by representing the full diverse range of our wonderful fanbase, the Club will then be able to gain feedback from all members, and learn more about the specific needs of all the supporter groups they represent. In addition to this, all Group members are entitled to belong to any other supporter’s group they wish, without prejudice. The SSG shall include representatives from the following categories
  • Torquay United Supporters Trust
  • A male representative
  • A female representative
  • An Under-21 representative
  • An Over-65 representative
  • A disability representative
  • An away travelling supporter representative
  • Season Ticket Holder representative

Torquay United AFC is committed to involving our fans in discussions and conversations so that they can share their views on important long term strategic and shorter-term tactical matters of importance to us both. These ongoing conversations will sometimes be formal and sometimes be informal (depending on the forum or discussion point) but should always be constructive and result in ideas, debates and decisions which strengthen our Club for the future for all. Each month, the SSG will meet with TUAFC Board representation and other members of the TUAFC team. After each meeting, the SSG will prepare a statement, giving a summary of the meeting, which will be published to all fans as a news story on the TUAFC website. At the end of each season the SSG will publish an Annual Report that outlines what they have spoken to the Club about and what decisions or actions they have taken or pushed on behalf of their fellow fans.
