I was there last night. We were good, Eastbourne were very poor and bar the period around their goal we dominated the whole game.
My one criticism was that we should have scored several more. Our forward players often had too many options late on and chose the wrong one......had it finished 1-8 it wouldn't have been an injustice.
The lad Archie did very well at left back, he is tidy on the ball and has a sharpness that has been lacking. Jack Stobbs delivered some quality crosses but it concerns me that without Jarvis we won't win balls in the air. I would play Asa up front to fill the gap. Brad Ash worked his socks off, yet again, and deserved his goal although I feel he needs someone to play alongside.
Great to see Tom back, he has been missed. He came off after sixty minutes and after the game I asked him if he had a had a reaction, he said he was fine. Nice little moment too, after the game he warmly embraced two people who I would guess are his grandparents. Very touching.

See you on Saturday.......

Good three poins last night and on plastic who would have believed it, according to johnson it was a eight hour journey to the ground, how, did they go via lincoln,The stream showed we had a comfortable night, even though eastbournes only strategy seemed to be industrial, three bookings and one sending off in the first 25 minutes. midfield works well with plenty of grit and industry when lapslie and dolan are playing together although lapslie is no where near fit, this allows and I am reticient to say it after he scored two goals, Mcgavin to do his pretty stuff and not much else, mind you if he had a lapslie work ethic and could actually tackle one player in any given game he would be playing at a much higher level.
Defence was tinkered with yet again, good to see halstead back between the sticks, Moxey centre half with marshall supposedly playing right back but at times playing higher up than stobbs, talking about stobbs is it confidence or lack of it, he cannot consistently cross the ball, he cannot beat his opposite number things he was doing for fun last season,.
I think both of our fleetwood lads loans are up at the end of this month so unless dawson does a lazarus and Hall gets new joints before saturday midfield will again become an issue, but a win is a win and on to saturday.

Got a better look at him second half as NLTV camera position was on our left flank. Thought he looked decent. Didn’t do much wrong defensively. Neat passing. Couple of marauding runs (into the box on one) showed a bit of pace. Looks a bit of a unit too. I think he’ll do well for us.

I was there on the night and have to say that McGavin put a real shift in - from one end of the field to the other. Lapslie is perpetual motion, he's non-stop, always on the move, nonetheless, the tactical and technical ability of McGavin is second to none and those two goals were achieved through both talent and hard work. There 'I said it' now I can only pray that McGavin and the others players put in a performance like this on Sat against Tonbridge so I don't have to eat my words.

I had the same thought as Skillsy before I read his post that we could have won 1-8 such was our dominance in this game.

However poor the opposition you still have to score goals for the 3 points and each strike was top drawer. Keeping the ball on the deck we look like a team playing to our strengths and not to our weaknesses.

Brett McGavin did what he does best, remember his goal last season against us for Kings Lynn. This is a player with natural ability which is inborn and he has proved this last few weeks why he deserves to start and why United gave him a 3 year contract. Look at the players who played well for us and at the end of a 1 or 2 year contract moved to a Football League Club.

Jamie Reid could be a Championship player next season!

Tonbridge on Saturday will be tougher as they are 2nd in the Form Table unbeaten in their last 5 games. COYY.

Quite often I post after a couple of pints of Guinness.....not always a good idea, but I always say what I really think at this time of night.

Tonight's offering.........

I am a boy from West Bromwich, but have spent a large part of my time in Shaldon and have become intoxicated with the fortunes of the/our club. Like many others, I have travelled to see the team all over England.....there is something very, very special about the club. Quite often I disagree with what people post on here, but at the same time I love the fact that people care so much. Indifference is never good.

Ultimately I want us to return to the Football League, as do we all. It's possible this could happen within eighteen months. A bit unlikely, but not impossible........

A much needed result…… but was it just an away blip or the start of a decent run of festive results. 🤔
Life is like TUFC. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. :goal:
