With the injuries and formation changes do people really expect us to be rolling sides over?

I'll take scrappy one nil wins every time now if that's what it takes.

This game demonstrates that all the criticism against Umerah was OTT

He is better than Street & Waters

We need another striker if he is out.

2 - nil win however we also have too many injuries.
Can not see us being anywhere near 9 points clear in a couple of weeks time.

Personally agree some of the dogs abuse Umerah has had to put up with is not simply not acceptable on any level. But it's not about whether Umerah is better than Street/ Waters, or whether Street is better than Waters, is about understanding that Umerah is a completely different type of player to the other two.

Umerah is a big strong forward who will never score you a lot of goals, so don't play him in a formation, team set up to expect him to score goals. Street/Waters are both strikers that will never hold the ball up, so don't play them as lone striker and expect them to thrive with long balls being played up, football is simple game, round pegs in round holes, and hope your round pegs are better than the oppositions.

You can play what ever formation you like, if the players don't fit, it will not work especially at our level. If fit with no incomings, either Umerah up top on his own, or Umerah with one of Street or Waters.

On today, haven't been commenting as not been able to watch much of late, but when short of confidence, any wins a good win, so well done all for today.

So fed up of the constant harping on about poor performances. Today was a chance to rest Hall, Nemane etc and put Sherring and Lemonheigh-Evans on the bench. Playing on a pitch which admittedly did hold up well after a couple of pitch inspections but of course our 5th division players are still expected to play exciting fluent flowing football and scoring goals for fun !

Totally agree with Southampton Gull . We did after all win the game !!!

Yes we won - an opportunity for Street to show what he could do, but he didn't - new striker needed desperately.

On the subject of forwards it matters very little what we think, Johnson is the only authority on that topic, if we all picked our first eleven and put it out on this forum it would be be out and out warfare, people would be saying you have to be kidding , he's a donkey, national south is his level etc etc, so I am very glad that it is down to he manager, no matter that on the odd occasion we think he has made a pigs ear of it.
Regardless of those he rested today and I am glad he did several players stood out for all the wrong reasons, Randell is not a fullback, he was ripped apart against Altrincham and he did not fare much better today but in his defence he is a makeshift back, I thought Cameron had a stinker, most of this season he has been outstanding but then I realised he usually plays with a very experienced centre half like warren and Kerr, today he looked lost without something whispering in his ear.

Not worried about the performance today with a makeshift team. Southport had more of the ball especially second half than you would have liked but were clueless in front of goal fortunately.
Street showed flashes of what he's about but not strong enough and poor in the air.
I thought the pitch was awful til I saw Stockports just now , glad we don't have to play on that. The hapless Yeovil defence are at it again though.

Dover away off now on the 27th , that won't be played til May , they literally play Saturday - Tuesday every week now til then, as they've only played about 3 games this season.
