Current squad

Post by Hammdog2601 »

When fit who misses out on the match day squad?

My opinions
Macdonald
Wynter
Cameron
Lewis/Niate
Davis
Whitfield
Buse
Little
Andrews
Reid
Janneh

Subs
Covolan
Lewis/Niate
Lewington
Evans/Vincent
Nemane

Missing out
Hall
Kalala
Lloyd
Keating
Evans/Vincent
For me Kalala form currently does not get him in the side, It is obvious what Gary thinks too. Considering he didn’t even come on Vs Aldershot. I think when Andrews & Conor are both back Kalala won’t make the bench. Pretty clear why he brought he another winger too. Andrews injury is not serious and he’ll be back for Chesterfield. I would say he is here to replace Edwards. Although Opi has not been in the squad for months so it makes no difference. Therefore I think Nemane is here to replace Kalala. I hope I’m wrong, on how Day Kalvin is the best player o mc the pitch. His confidence after being subbed or dropped after a game is the huge worry and is what is keeping him back.

Yes I’m not the manager, what are Everyone’s thought?

I think you need a rethink Hammdog2601.

First of all you have not mentioned Cundy, Medford-Smith and Koszela.

Lloyd James missing out? I do not think so!

With respect I do not think you have really thought this through at all. Sorry.

For me I’d get rid of Medford Smith and Cundy in January. Olaf doesn’t get a look in either. We cannot not have everyone in the squad. If you have Lloyd James then you’ve gotta drop one of Vincent/Conor, Buse or Little. My starting midfield when fit is Buse & Little.

I reckon Lloyd James will get an 18 month deal at some point soon. Asa will be seen as back up for him or possibly be loaned out. Dickson will go.

Medford-Smith, Bansal-Mcnulty, Opi Edwards and Cundy would also go for me. Although would like to see a centre back added before ‘releasing’ one. As I suspect, would Gary Johnson.

Koszela and Slough should be considered for loaning out.

If we ever do have a fully fit squad is a big ‘if’.

Have Medford-Smith and Bansal-McNulty gone already? I've not seen a mention of them for a couple of weeks.

McNulty made the bench last week, not gonna lie I completely forgot about him. I don’t see him being on the bench this weekend

If all fit I’d go for

GK McDonald
RB Wynter
LB Davis
CB Lewis
CB ???
LW Kalala / Andrews
RW Whitfield
CM Little
CM Evans
FD Reid
FD Janneh

Bench:

Andrews / Kalala
Keating
Buse
Cameron
Covolon

I’d give Conor free reign across the middle to do what he wants. Give him the captain role until Little is back.

I’d ideally like to play Janneh next to Reid but I’d struggle to decide who to leave out from Andrews, Kalala & Whitfield.

As Little is out for a while I’d have Janneh in the starting XI with Andrews and CLE in the middle running the show.

Given our injuries I’d like to see Dickson back and in at LB.

Lewis is the only CB I’ve seen that has the capability of holding the line yet he’s played the least?! We need a big, strong and commanding ‘king of headers’ at the back. Despite his height, unfortunately Niate isn’t quite cutting it at this level. I’m sad to say it but Cameron needs to be dropped too and I’m questioning Wynter’s contribution at the moment given how many goals are conceded from crosses out wide.

Those with the fighting spirit such as Keating, Vincent, Buse, Edwards and Hall (although concerned he can’t keep up now) should be given the opportunity to shine and influence the game from the bench, and if they outperform the starting XI then they claim the place.

I’m not sure what I think as far as Medford-Smith, Bansal-McNulty, James, Nemane, Lewington are concerned - haven’t seen enough yet, a couple of them may have potential but the size of their impact in the short time I’ve seen them has been insignificant.

Time for some tough decisions.

I would not drop Cameron, I think an experienced centre half along side him will work, he was screaming today at Niate to get into the right position.
He needs to concentrate on his own defending first.

You are right - with an experienced centre back next to him he’d probably thrive

Would not be shocked to see Dickson sign fully with Truro in January

In my opinion the new signings are not of the standard of our squad,They’ve made us weaker! To lose 7 in a row in the National league is a very hard thing todo. Yes we have a couple of injurys but nothing major and we’ve bought players in.
