70s? 60s? It's all ancient history to a child of the mid 80s

I was a fanatical Gulls supporter in the mid 60's to very early 70's and used to stand in the old cowshed, the the mini stand when it was a terrace, and I posessed the longest Torquay scarf in the world (wot my mum knitted) 17feet of blocks of blue and yellow. Anyway, I digress, I remember firstly that the team ran out to 'Spanish Flea' by Herb Albert, a real toe-tapper. But the terracey/chanty song was an adulterated version of 'Daisy' Lyrics as follows:

Daisy, Daisy,
Give me your answer do,
If they catch you, they'll give you a year or two,
They'll clap you up in irons
Inside a Black Maria,
So ring your bell,
And peddle like 'Ell,
On a bicycle made for
2-4-6-8
Who do we app-re-ciate?

T-O-R-Q-U-A-Y!

TORQUAY UNITED!!
Ah, How it all comes back to me-1/3d to get in, 6d for a programme, coats for goalposts etc.!

Aye, nostalgia ain't what it used to be. ;-)

The Cowshed in my Primary School days, the Mini Stand in my Senior School days, and now in my End of Days . . . it's the Popside.

Devil gotta stand somewhere.
