Man of the Match - Burton

Post by Gulliball »

Thought I'd do this again this season. The idea is to collect fans' opinions on who performs in each match, so that over the season there's a record with each game counting the same, rather than the traditional player of the award that goes to someone who ends the season strongly.

This is the final thread from last year, to see what will hopefully happen. Guy Branston edged Chris Zebroski

http://www.torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1784" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, these threads were produced:

http://www.torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1788" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.torquayfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1790" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All you have to do is post up to five players in order, who deserve some recognotion to their performance today. As a reminder, you can select anything from 1-5 if you don't think 5 players are deserving.

Eg:

1) Rodney Jack
2) Jean Pierre-Simb
3) Etc
4) Etc
5) Etc

1 - Mansell - true captain's performance, and he showed he can be a real box-to-box central midfielder. My worry with his bursts forward is the massive gaps that appear, leaving our defence exposed.
2 - Howe - took his goal extremely well, and defenders don't know how to deal with him. Had he passed to Eunan a second earlier near the end, Ateino's tap-in would've marked a great comeback win.
3 - O'Kane - superb vision and pass to Manse for the equaliser.
4 - Olejnik - I really like Bobby, but am surprised to see him dominate the MOTM standings. He made a couple of smart saves, but his hesitancy didn't help our worryingly shaky defensive display.
5 - Stevens - close one between him and Robertson, but for 20mins after going 2-0 down he was the most effective player on the pitch. It needs to be much more consistent, though.

Blo*dy Hell. If our goalkeeper is just about everyone's man of the match then we better hope and pray he doesn't get injured!
