Stanley provides a physical presence in midfield. He can do Gills tackling for him. Stanley is more of a nuisance to the opposition than providing anything creative. Certainly looks like a useful midfield combination.

Not sure how many others will be on their way to you before the new season starts. I don't think we're officially allowed to be termed your 'feeder club'.
Maybe just refer to us as 'Little Rovers by The Sea'.

Certainly an eventful close season for all concerned, with plenty more of interest once our new manager gets appointed.

I still think Torquay are the bigger Club, I bet Rovers couldn't have afforded the cost of Colin Lee for a couple of years. :)

Dont come on here and give it the billy big b*llocks.

A few Gasheads have come on here and spouted the same drivel. It is making us look bad.

We are League 2 mate, and as such need to look at League 2 players, what makes you thinkthat we should be looking at better players?

I am pleased Sir Jamie Cureton looks like he is coming back, but he is the only player that we are looking at that has any pedigree at a higher level, and he is nearly 36.

Dont mug yourself off.

Also yes we have more supporters than Torquay, and are a "bigger" club, but we aint Real Madrid mate.

And yes we have the potential to entice people to come through the turnstiles, if we are succesful and the exciting news about the new stadium looks promising.

But our support is worse than Torquay's in comparison, If you compare the size Of Bristol to Torbay, and then compare the 2 teams attendances, then the percenatge of people that turn up at PlainMoor is better than ours.

Please stop it.

Anyway Gulls, What can we expect with Stanley? Which was my original question. Is he a "Free kick specialist" and is his passing top notch?

Don't you tell me what I can and can't write.

If you want league two standard players then thats exactly where we will stay.

Nobody said we were Real Madrid, just bigger than Torquay and you can't blame players coming here rather than there, money talks these days unfortunately.

I can understand this lots frustration, but cant really see what they are angry about.

I think Stanley's the kind of player a good Torquay side needs. He puts in a shift and tends to play the right passes - not necessarily amazing passes, but the right ones to keep possession and set our more creative attacking players going. His experience in a young side was also invaluable, and he clearly cared, which is always appreciated by the fans. Although not prolific I think his potential for a goal or assist has been downplayed here - in the limited number of games I saw him in he scored one, had one disallowed, won a penalty, and assisted 2 in one game, plus at least one more from a corner.

I personally think O'Kane has more raw talent, but I'd have loved to see them play together in the Gulls midfield next season.

I cant believe it, two gas fans arguing on a torquay forum. If you want to argue do it on your own site.

I welcome your queries and questions and so do alot of other torquay fans.

1979 you cant understand our frustration.

Buckle signing a month before the end of his best season here.

You lot coming given us the small club talk and thinking that your better than us. Im sorry if thats not what you meant but it certainly sounds like it from here.

You can understand why some are a little bit pissed off.

To tell you the truth i think we could be better off in the long run, i might be wrong and ill hold my hands up if i am.

My point is dont argue between yourselves on another forum do it on your own.

Anyway BritishGas i personally think Stanley was class. Always putting in a shift, his passing was good. His composure was decent, He always put in the challenge and took alot of pressure off the defence.

I warned you all this would happen. Some people prefer to call it being negative, some even laugh it off as me being roped in (Jon). When all the moves are done and dusted, new "manager" installed, wait and see what your aspirations are for next season.

With a Board in place who refuse to invest (some have refused for years now), no other way of injecting some cash into the club, with Simple Simon Baker overseeing everything and Ian Hayman holding the purse, what can we realistically expect? They've made their mistakes and now they have to pay for them. Sure, they bought the club from Bateson, we all bought into it and now we're seeing where their sheer ineptitude has left us. Anyone who wants to disagree with that analysis can be my guest. I don;t give a toss that we went to a play-off final, that will all prove to be a waste of time when all the cuts begin to show their ugly faces. We'll have a nice new Grandstand but with nobody to fill it when we end up losing our league status again.

Forget any chance of seeing the likes of Forster taking over, we'll be lucky if Harrop takes over. Whoever does agree to take on the job will be so strapped for money we'll be lucky to field a side that would have matched the reserves of last year. There will be other players leaving, who would want to stay on at a club preparing for a real go at relegation?

Managers change clubs all the time and take staff and players with them......thats life im afraid.

So far we have taken an out-of-contract keeper off you that many here didnt rate, the other one you only had on loan so was never your player.

I cant understand your fans blaming the saga on your play off defeat. As far as I can remember it was still rumoured even before you beat the shrews without much of a problem?? I guess it was all too easy to blame Buckle and Rovers rather than players bottle?

Then you must be a total buffoon.

Try going on to the Bristol City forum and spout your bigger club bo**ocks, we've seen plenty enough of that just lately.

Even if Buckle did make an agreement with us before the play offs, nothing would have been done without your board knowing about it surely??

Everything else thats happened since has just been the norm, so still struggling to understand your anger towards us....

That is an amazingly negative assessment SG.

Everything that has happened so far with players going to join Buckle has been fully expected and not particularly devastating to next season. The loss of Bevan isn t a major blow and to be honest as soon as Buckle left I never expected the loan players (including Stanley) to stay.

However, your predictions of a ridiculously weak manager, a shockingly poor first team and probable relegation are something that on the face of it would seem a dramatic over-reaction. Perhaps you might like to expand on why you are so negative.

Maybe you could explain which players are going to leave?

The players currently under contract provide a solid enough core to be comfortably mid-table in my opinion. Obviously if we lose a couple of players that may change.

Nobody is angry with any of your fans for what is happening to our club, but if you muppets keep coming on here trying to rub our noses in it then expect a bit of a shove back. Get it?

Cheers for that, SDYellow.

He certainly sounds like a player we desperately need.

Stuart Campbell has been a great servant for BRFC but has had to carry Chris Lines for 3 years and has had to do all his donkey work, and it has taken his toll on Cambs, and combined with him getting to the twilight of his career has seen his form dip.

I think you will be alright next season, like others have said you did alright in the play-offs without Stanley(Well for 2 games anyway) and from what I have read you dont seem to be to bothered with Beavan leaving. Buckle has obviously just gone for players he knows, and trusts which is a good thing, whether they will be regular 1st teamers and will be at BRFC that long remains to be seen, but it is a solid start for life back in League 2.

It obviously must look bad for you lot having players "stolen" from you, but I think you will still be a force in League 2 next season, and with a decent manager appointed soon, I would imagine you to be there or thereabouts.

Put it this way I am sure there will be plenty worse sides than you.

Also sorry for the slanging match with the other Gashead, I just dont like our fans giving it the "look at us" and "Little old Torquay" card.

Please dont hate us, after the last month. We are not Millwall, Leeds, Nuts C*nty or BRISTOL C*TY.

Oh surprise surprise, you venture out again. You can save that post of mine and use it any way you please over the next few weeks, let's see who is correct.

You think we're in for a comfortable mid-table kind of season, I say you're deluded.
