Truro to Taunton

Post by Cheddargull »

Truro City have agreed a ground share with Taunton Town for the rest of the season. We are scheduled to play Truro away on 27th February.
Hopefully Taunton will benefit financially from this move.

Taunton are home that day so that game will have to be changed again

What a mess

Announcement from Truro today that due to state of Plymouth Parkway pitch they will play their remaining home games this season at Taunton.
They don't mention our game on 27th Feb but as Taunton are scheduled to play Weston Super Mare at home that day I assume a new date will be needed.
Taunton's pitch isn't much better so not sure that will cope with the extra fixtures. Presumably Torquay weren't willing to let them use Plainmoor.

Football's Coming Home back to Truro, and back to Cornwall this summer for Truro City Football Club, but before it does, we must communicate an important update on home fixtures for the remainder of the current Vanarama National League South campaign.

As you are aware, unfortunately we have not been able to play a number of home fixtures at Bolitho Park this season. In the circumstances, we have made the decision to move our remaining home games this season away from Bolitho Park.

Truro City’s home games for the last months of the 23-24 campaign will take place at Wordsworth Drive, home of Taunton Town Football Club.

Our match against Eastbourne Borough will now take place this coming Saturday, February, 10, at Wordsworth Drive. The home fixture next Tuesday, February 13, against Dover Athletic will not take place on this date, and will be rescheduled to a date to be confirmed, later in the season.

This decision to move was not made lightly, and we recognise that in some ways it makes it even more difficult for our incredibly loyal supporters to be with us in our last matches outside Cornwall.

However, we consider that this temporary arrangement will help the club to best meet our remaining match day commitments for this season.

With such a momentous return home now confirmed for this summer, our time and energy away from the pitch is focused on making the imminent move to our brand-new facility at Langarth the best it can possibly be, for you, our fans, as well as for our players and staff.

The club would like to place on record our considerable thanks to the National League for their support since the takeover. We’d also like to thank Taunton Town, who have generously allowed us to see out our last few months in exile at their storied facility.

In the coming weeks, we will have more news to bring you regarding our return to Truro, but in the meantime, we are committed to finishing the season as strongly as possible and building for an incredibly bright future.

At home, in Truro, in Cornwall, where we belong.

The sensible thing would be to swap your away game against Truro to Plainmoor. Means less travel for all fans, better crowd, and avoids the fixture pile up that could ensue later

Good suggestion, I'm sure they'd fancy beating us again at Plainmoor.

No mention if the tickets for the Parkway game will be valid for Taunton?
Bl**dy pain as Bolitho Park is much closer for me than Taunton 😤

Not sure Truro would want to come back after the way their fans were treated last time.

We do of course have a precedent for the Truro v TUFC Match being played at Plainmoor.

It really does make a lot of sense for all parties.

Especially as means you can keep to the original date. With 20 games still to fit into 10 weeks there really isn't a lot of leeway to fit it all in, unless you start playing Saturday and Sundays or two days in a row midweek on the same pitch. Seems mad not stick to the original 27th date to avoid adding this game to the inevitable backlog that seems certain to build up.

Taunton have always had issues with their pitch. It is sheer stupidity to play even more games on that pitch. Just asking for trouble and more games off

Exactly. They've had issues playing only 15 games in 6 months on that pitch. How they expect 20 games in 10 weeks to go off without a hitch is beyond me.

More problems for Taunton

February 8, 2024
Club Statement
Taunton Town Football Club can confirm that as of Friday 2nd February, it has been placed under an immediate transfer embargo following the issue of a winding up petition. The club will make no further comment at this stage.

I hope Torquay haven't broken any rules by signing Booth 3rd Feb after this date?

He played on 3rd Feb so he will have signed before the 3rd so he could be registered to play on the 3rd Feb.

Booth was interviewed at Seale Hayne on 1st or 2nd I guess on 1st which would not have happened unless he had signed.

I thought a transfer embargo just stopped the affected club from signing players, and does not have any impact on players moving on
