No they’re not. I can agree to buy your house but until I sign the contract there’s no deal. Football is no different. Agreeing to sign is not the same as putting pen to paper.

Right so that recent interview with Tom Lapslie saying he can wait to get started isn't real then? Because he only agreed a contract? Give your head a good shake

To be fair we did once announce Jo Kuffour had agreed a new deal, and then a few days later he signed for Brentford. Teenage me was devastated.

Brentford probably have higher standards now though, so fingers crossed we're safe this time.

I suppose an agent might use the time between agreeing and signing to raise the auctioneers gavel, effectively prompt other clubs that they need to move fast with a decent offer if they want that player.

In the case of Kuffuor, seems that's what happened.

I’ll shake my head at your naivety that’s for sure.
Of course it doesn’t mean the Lapslie interview isn’t real - he probably will sign - but the fact remains that until he or anybody else commits to a contract we haven’t got them. Yeovil thought Frank Nouble had agreed to join them and look what happened.

They have clearly signed. It is loose language on the website. Chill out folks.

I don't think we've repeated the Jo Kuffour mistake in the last 17 odd years, so you'd think agreements are kept under wraps and then made public when the ink is dry. No reason to think that isn't the case here, but the Kuffour example always gives me flashbacks when I see it, and we have used it a lot in recent years so it's probably how GJ describes sealed deals, or else whoever writes the copy for the website. So long as things actually are signed, sealed and delivered it's not something we need to worry about.

Does anyone know if Frank Nouble has signed for any club yet?

I don’t see why Jarvis wouldn’t stay for another year. He’s under contract, and a year building on his goalscoring form and a chance at promotion would put him in a better position to succeed when he eventually moves on. He’s had one good season in his career so hopefully he builds on that because he is a good striker.

Watching the Back-to-Training footage posted by the club on YouTube, I couldn't help notice a couple of things

Firstly Dan Martin was there, so he's still in contention for a contract it seems, presumably if he can prove he has got over all last year's fitness problems.

Secondly, I couldn't spot Ross Marshall in amongst the group.
There was plenty of footage of all the players, and the only one of the under contract players that I didn't spot.
Maybe coincidence, maybe he has been told to find another club.
I always thought it strange we released Ali Omar, but he was ahead of Marshall in the pecking order for the second half of the season

Ross Marshall had been training at Winners Torquay the last few weeks, so I'll assume he is still expected to be a part of our squad.
