Time to sign Tony Lee from Poole Town. He was never criminally charged for whatever allegations that were made and he’s clearly a proven goal scorer at a lower level and could be a great stepping stone for him.

Yes a proven goalscorer, as long as he can find the net regularly which his stats back up.......who gives a damn about the past and as you say
he was never criminally charged.... We need a striker that can hit that onion bag on a consistent basis to get us out of the sh1t we find ourselves in. :goal:

A couple of points to remember when considering Tony Lee.

a) Its one thing banging them in at part-time Southern League level quite another doing it at full-time National League level.
b) If he's that good why haven't the likes of Portsmouth or Bournemouth been after him?

Appreciate your opinion.
However we have nobody banging them in, as Jarvis is a hold up striker as his career record for goals suggest.
We are in the 5th tier of English football and at Rock bottom.
Not anywhere near the likes of Pompey or the Cherries
So for that he is worth a punt.
We need a goal scorer before it’s too late

Tony Lee would be a gamble. Maybe it's worth taking at the start of a season, but when the clubs future may depend on it, no.

Posters bang on about us getting "quality" in...
....Now some want to go for an unproven player who plays in several leagues lower than us, when we are now in greatest need of experience.
Unbelievable Jeff.

If you're going to go for someone then most likely need to find someone who has an okay record in League 2/1 who is not getting the game time for their team, that should equate to a decent amount of goals a league or two below based on the metrics

Back in 2007 a certain Jamie Vardy was an unknown he was playing for a team called Stockbridge Park Steels nobody had heard of him
He played 107 games and scored 66 goals whilst there
Halifax took a chance on him in 37 games he scored 26 goals
I wont bore you with the rest of the stats..........sometimes it maybe worth taking a punt on a Tony Lee.
A pity in my opinion we were unable to at the start of the season, might just have worked out better than a certain excuse for a striker
that has just signed for Wealdstone.

Never rule out a goalscorer Jeff :goal:

Not quite true....
Several had heard of him - he started out at Sheff Wed. I went to see him play a few times for SPS. However, he is one of the exceptions to the rule.
As I said, Tony Lee isn't what we need at the moment - we need a proven goal scorer at this or a higher level.

Get him in to the end of the season on a play for a contract basis. If he performs and scored goals, give him a contract but if he is just another nobody send him back.

Who's paying for him to come now?
Would you come for that generous offer?
Like I said we need proven players.

Not disagreeing with you, but when was the last time we signed a 'proven' player. Chris Waddle? Neville Southall?

For proven NL players I don't think we have to go that far back tbh.....

An experienced proven goalscorer joining us at this stage would be a mighty surprise in our current situation, Also who would be funding this ?
At present on the striker side, we have a hold up man and all hopes on another loanee who is unproven and just 18 years of age.
This coupled with a relatively non scoring midfield, it is somewhat frightening
