New Stadium (is it really needed yet?)

Post by JA7 »

If they've really got the money to be considering a new stadium then surely they have money to be pumping into this squad or am I miss understanding something here?

Surely the priority at this moment in time would be to use that money to purchase players to try at least stable the sinking ship we are currently experiencing.

Chicken and egg again. Until Osborne gets an approved site for a new stadium, he won’t piss money away on the team. My thought anyway.

Talk about a new stadium is just that, talk, no one in their right mind would invest millions, maybe tens of millions with the current economy, thats assuming a site could be found, like most successful business people they rarely use their own money, preferring others to take the risk while they reap the major rewards.
In any event as things stand, with our club a stadium that would house 3000 would be sufficent if not excessive.

The football club isn't the main topic with regards a new stadium. The money making opportunities around the uses of this new stadium as well as from its football side, is the main goal (I think), no pun intended.
If all we hear is true, then the extra intended revenue from this is meant to make us self sufficient.
Better parking, easier access via train etc etc.

That assumes of course that the revenue from other activities would go to the club and not Mr Osborne.

The question was is a new stadium needed, YES.

This could produce vital income streams and secure the future. Sadly, we are currently stuck in the 80's.

The stadium we have is fine.
And there is security as the council own the freehold.

Would a new stadium be as good as the one we have now?
We wouldn't own it, so less security and rent to pay - set by the owner - who has no interest in football.
Would the club get any of these potential other income streams.
Would there be any more money to spend on the team?

We could easily end up worse off than we are now.
Look at Coventry, Bristol Rovers etc.

Very much agree with all .......new stadium will not happen with current owner. All hypothetical anyway, priority is to climb this bloody league table.......No point in having the best stadium in NLS
