Could be that the problem with the National league is that you can only name 5 subs??

Great result today!!! Couldn't be there but listened on the radio!! Putting aside the dodgy pen and keeper error at Eastleigh we are on a great run!!!! Would value others opinions on Dukes performance today as I think he could be the most talented player to pull on a TUFC shirt since Lee Sharpe!!!!

First of all, great turnout from the 316 Yellow Army there!
Great result considering I was bricking it when I saw the team sheet.
Got on the front foot early and the well taken early goal by the Lemon settled us down nicely.
For 20mins they weren't in it - clearly lacking in confidence, but typical TUFC, we let them back in and they equalized.
A poor goal to concede as nobody seemed to want to close their player down and in the end he decided to shoot from 25yds out and found the bottom corner!
Nothing that Mc could do with that one.
Same pattern 2nd half a cracking goal from us when they decided to pi*s about with the ball on the edge of their box, Wearne pounced and it was 2-1.
Then of course we started to hold on....
The Lemon should have put it to bed after great play from him in the box and instead of placing it into the corner, ala Wearne, he decided to spank it as hard as he could and found me nicely in the crowd with the ball..... :-/
Holding on then and they had a few chances - a great save from Mc followed by another.
They had a free kick on the edge of the box in the last minute and we were all fearing the worst....
Fortunately their player thought he was Messi, tried to score from the corner of the box and put in the Alty fans behind the goal.
Mc took the goal kick and thankfully the ref blew. (who was Ok tbf)
Best team won, should have been 3 or 4-1, but hey-ho.
Have to say Ali Omar played really well.
Up the Gulls.

Wrote this on FB so I’ll copy to here:

MacDonald: Amazing what being No 1 can do for a keeper’s confidence. Magnificent when called upon today.

Johnson: Bit clumsy at the start - felt like he was trying too hard - but grew into the game. Solid.

Wynter: Has always done well when I’ve seen him step into a central role. Brilliant block in the first half.

Omar: I’m sure he’s a lovely guy but generally feels like he’s won a competition to play in a game of professional football. Dealt with most by putting it into touch but better teams will waltz past him. (Think it was him who headed against the bar early on but was a long way away.)

Martin: Our best player by a mile. Everything down the left was through him.

Hall: Mostly composed but just not up to the pace any more.

CLE: That miss will haunt me, let alone him. Still can’t believe it. Other than that excellent and took his goal very well.

Duke: Looked a bit lost in the 1st half, some nice touches aside, but got into the game when the lights came back on. Could be the creative force that takes us to the play-offs.

Little: Woeful first half, wonderful second half. Amazing how much difference it can make when he actually beats the first man from a set play.

Wearne: Linked up brilliantly with Martin and Little down the left. A genuine joy to watch and took his goal very well.

Wright: Some lovely touches but had to come looking for the ball. We don’t want you out on the wings, Danny!

Holman: Almost scored with his first touch after nicking the ball off their No 18 (who makes Omar look like Jaap Stam). Did his job of closing down and generally being a nuisance well.

316 TUFC fans: Always a pleasure. (FWIW I’m still unbeaten this season: Notts, Chesterfield, Wrexham, Altrincham.)

Had an excellent day out yesterday, not when in the ground and saw the team and subs. Lovely ealy goal from Connor but an appalling miss in second half and you could sense that they may nick one near the end. They were nothing great and a deserved 3points made the journey back to Glorious Devon much better. Anpther fantastic away support again, incredible numbers considering where we are in the league. Good to meet up with a couple of Northern based fans.

Well done to the lads for an excellent three points under what appears to be trying circumstances, On wednesday the manager said we had a full squad , no injuries , no covid . 48 hours later we are travelling north without both our regular central defenders self isolating and yet again lapslie injured.
Will these inportant players be available Tuesday, who knows , it would be easier to obtain the Russian invasion plan for Ukraine than any honest and credible communication with the club, supposedly, we have a new communication team in place so why was the annoucnement of the duke-Mckenna arrival known to everybody including the club cat before they got round to informing the paying supporters. Do they only work mondays ?. Have they yet to go on the social meida training course. This is more than personal annoyance on my part, it is more about the credability of the club to be taken seriously, and more inportantly taking us seriously, we play Solihull tomorrow , true to form if two strange faces appear on the pitch that look like centre defenders it will be the first we know of it.

A lot can happen in the current situation and circumstances between Wednesday and the squad getting on the coach on Friday.
Get a grip FFS.

For once , supernickywroe you are talking tosh, two weeks off and besides the odd training run out the players were obviously ready for the saturday match when he made his wednesday announcemnt of having a full squad available , so did lapslie just trip on a pavement the day before and again strain his groin, Johnson has made great store on the care he and the players take regarding avoiding covid, but seemingly two players altered their rouutine to such an extent they have to self isolate.
Did any of us know that these events had occured before the match, its not the inury or the self isolating that can occur anywhere and any time and on that we can agree, its the lack of information being put out by the club, would it have affected the away support, unlikely as the majority were probably exile fans, would it have affected the opposition I doubt that too, they probably havent heard of lapslie as he spends so much time on the treatment bench, and as for Lewis and Moxey we are not the only club struggling to fill the subs bench, altrincham are worse off than us, they probably could not have altered their strategy for the game if they wanted to.

Dear Culmstockgull I am sure Altrincham would have been delighted if Gary Johnson had told them that the regular centre of our defence would be missing and that one our best combative midfield players was also doubtful for the game !!!!

But hey as long as you are informed that's the most important thing !!

Not sure what happened with their goal,
Macdonald shouldn't have been beaten from there , it was 30-35 yards out and he never moved. Anyway he seems to have made up for it with his other saves.
