MOTM - Macclesfield

Post by Gulliball »

MOTM will run again this season, collecting the data from all 46 league games.

Dan Butler won the Player of the Year award last year, and there's more info about previous year on here and at www.torquayfanstats.com

If you were at Macclesfield then a reply would be very much appreciated. As a reminder you can name (up to) five players, in order, who deserve some credit from today.

McGinty

Thought the back four gave a good account of themselves but (always a but!) they played to deep. Nico needs to work on that.

Moore, as Lucy said he made a couple of very good saves and had no chance with either goal.
Blissett, more for effort than anything else.

Anyone else at the game that could give a reply? A few more would really help. As with those above it doesn't have to be a full five.

Many thanks to those who have replied so far.

Moore - as said before, no chance with either goal (especially the first one)

Richards (nah, only joking!)

Sparkes - did OK despite the lack of service to him

Blissett at least tried but no support from midfield

....the jury is out on the rest....

Edited to add.... I've just seen that someone has voted for McGinty.... saw nothing from him but hoofball all afternoon.... not impressed (so far)

It was me who voted McGinty. I thought the back four look solid , particularly McGinty and were beaten only by two well taken goals. We could have lost by so many more! The issue we had as a team is we sat far too deep which allowed Macclesfield to run all over us. Nico will have to sort this out - quickly - as the defence will have no alternative but to play 'hoofball'

Because we played so deep we were not creative in any area of the pitch and so created few chances, hence why I struggle to really provide any other names to MOTM. It was a easy win for Macclesfield who must be thinking if all the matches are as easy as this we must be in with a shout of promotion.

Dave Thomas rated McGinty on Saturday, it was one of his '5 things' from the Macclesfield game.

I thought maybe I mis-read McGinty's performance on Sat as he did not seem to impress any others on this forum as my MOTM. However Dave Thomas of the Herald Express saw that McGinty looked the part ... "United's new centre-back was the pick of a hard-pressed defence – solid in the air and on the ground, no messing whenever danger threatened and not hard to see how he became a leader at Aldershot last season."
