Meanwhile, in the Conference...

Post by ferrarilover »

We had a L2 version of this last year, so it makes sense to have a Conference one this time round.

How the shuddering **** have Kiddiminster won that?

Welling had the whole game for the first 70 minutes, then ran out of steam. Kiddi were, at no time, the better side.

Two abysmal own goals, both, annoyingly, created by Nico and Kiddi get the least deserved three points since Fleetwood against us last year.

Still, on to the next one.

Kidderminster must be very happy! But neither team should present any real difficulty for us Matt, unless the lads over-indulge over Christmas: we play Bristol Rovers at Plainmoor on Boxing Day, and two days later (Sunday 28 December) we're away to Welling, whom we beat 3-0 at home in August. We're away to Kidderminster on 1 November.

"Eastleigh establishing themselves in the Conference" apparently. They're in the bottom half, a notable distance from the playoffs and, despite spending many thousands of pounds a week on strikers, they have a GD of just +1, the 13th best (or 11th worst) in the division.

The money they've spent and continue to spend, and their manager is delirious at being in the bottom half. Fine, they're a pub side, but it does go a long way to demonstrating the difference in attitude between proper clubs and millionaires' playthings who know they're frauding it, but are just clinging on for the ride regardless.

How is he delirious?

Any promoted side should look to try and establish themselves at their new level and they're doing that. Eastleigh are a progressive club that in my time there were always looking to improve and move up the ladder. I'd say that 15 years of consolidation and investment on and off the field have raised thei profile to within touching distance of League football. A lottery winner bankrolled our return to the league so why get on your high horse over a club that have built slowly but surely? The fact they now have the money to invest in players with league experience is a bonus for them and not something we should be taking exception with.

Fair play to them I say, they are and always have been a good club with the local community high on their list of priorities.

I'm neither blind to the photo or your inability to give praise to a club that have risen to the same level we find ourselves at. What you decide to call a pub team are actually a much more forward thinking and community integrated club than the one we support.

Yes, well done to them for having a wage budget that's ten times ours on half our income and a ground that looks as though Al Queda have been having a go at it.

They're another Crawley Town, a nothing side from a nothing place with a sugar daddy and bugger all else. I can't wait until they're in administration, having paid back 0.0000001% of what they owe small business owners (like a certain carpet fitter we both know...), forcing them out of business.

It's not how the game is played, just writing a blank cheque and hoping for the best.

You really haven't been paying attention for the past 20 years or so...

Their sugar daddy as you call him has only just rolled up. This is the period when they are close to realising the ambitions of people that were at the Club when I played for them 20 years ago and are still working tirelessly in the background. They're nothing like Crawley and to be honest, it's pretty short-sighted and dumb of you to even insinuate such. You really should engage your brain sometimes.
They're a community focussed club with sides representing every age group from under 6 upwards. They have developed their site into a place we could only dream of and your views are embarrassing and just plain daft. I used to warm up on a bumpy dusty area next to the pitch that now boasts several 5 a side pitches that see action 7 days a week. They were on a par football wise with Histon several years ago and have been waiting for their rise to the Conference for all that time just slowly building solid foundations. This hasn't happened overnight because someone dipped into their pockets and if he dropped off the face of the earth they would maybe drop back a level but definitely wouldn't go into administration.

Ahahahahaha, imagine being Bristol Rovers. Just imagine it. Having the balls and grotesque lack of both dignity and self awareness to keep this argument going.

Give up, Rovers. You were rightly relegated because you're a shambles, not because of some paperwork irregularity committed in the late 14th Century.

Cheapest adult admission prices for Bristol Rovers and Lincoln City (£18) the same as for Barcelona and Real Madrid:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29549609 But Torquay United's is just £1 less (£17).

I suppose more than anything else it's a reflection of economic realities, of supply and demand..

If the authorities were happy to dump Celtic out of the Champions League after they played an ineligible player for the last 9 seconds of a 438-0 win, how exactly do FGR expect that they'll get away with playing a bloke for the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 win?

Still, they've got a billion pounds knocking about, they might as well waste it on barrister's fees as anything else.
