The youngsters beat Forest Green 2-1 today in (I think) the first round.

Means we face Chipstead or Horley Town at home in the next round http://www.thefa.com/fa-youth-cup/fixtures

So a decent chance to progress and get a decent draw in the next round should we progress.

I remember we played Chipstead in one of the FA Cup Prelim Rounds in our Conference days. They were awful but a tubby player for them scored a sublime chip over the keeper.

Well, if we can get past Chipstead (who won their tie) in Round 2, then our young lads will have the opportunity to match up with yet another Premiership giant in Round 3. We have drawn Arsenal away! Unfortunately, it will be played at Boreham Wood rather than the Emirates, but nevertheless a great experience should we get there. It was only a couple of years ago that we gave a good account of ourselves in a 4-0 defeat against Man Utd and this will no doubt be just as difficult.

Just a shame that these ties couldn't have been at Plainmoor as I reckon we could have pulled in a decent crowd. Even more of a shame that the first team never seem to pull out such plum ties!!!!

Anyway, still got to get past Chipstead first!

Arsenal away in the Youth Cup tomorrow night. Good to see that despite the troubles the first team are enduring we have a decent crop of youngsters coming through, Levi Ives in particular seems to get rave reviews whenever he plays (not often enough thanks to the clowns at FIFA although clearance for our overseas lads has now finally come through!)

Anyone on here going to this?

Thanks for resurrecting this one from page 3 of the main board Jerry. Not that you have attracted much interest, with everything still concentrated on the multitude of threads on the same subject (which would be even more if it were not for the moderators stepping in quickly on some and merging them!).

It is a real pity that our Football Club has a football game tomorrow against one of the historic and glamorous clubs the Arsenal, yet even with no first team or reserve games this weekend there does not seem to be a flicker of interest.

Very sad, but despite that the best of luck to our youngsters. They will need it. Even though the Arsenal boys are struggling for form this season they do play at a good level consistently and can call upon a forward with first team experience this season.

Let's hope for a home tie against another of the big boys in the 4th Round! ;-)

I have heard that we may have one supporter at the game, but, since he's a bit of a mysterious sort, I shan't say whom.

Hope the lads do well. I'm sure there has been some interest in a couple of our lads from clubs like Arsenal, so here's hoping they have a stormer and we make a few quid off the back of it.

Matt.

The Herald Express says the squad is booking into a hotel to have 'a pre-match meal'.

Let's hope that's nothing more than a light lunch, and that the Arsenal youngsters aren't more hungry for the win.

Otherwise our lads may be sh*tting in their shorts come half-time, instead of dumping Arsenal out of the Cup.. :~D

Hi guys, great that your thinking of us as we travel to the Gunners , the experience of creating what most first teams do on match day is priceless! Confirmed that Capital Gulls and PLAINMOOR faithful will turn up to support our kids, make no mistake this & Dartford at Chelsea are the picks of round 3. Whatever the outcome the young gulls will wear the new strip of ALL SKY BLUE with pride and commitment and we won't lack heart. The future is rosy and this is an important part of there development so please be patient. Thanks for your support!!
